Location: Kings Chapel, Old Amersham, Buckinghamshire Hours: 45 hours per week, across MondaySunday Contract: Full-time, permanent About the role We are looking for an experienced Banqueting Head Chef to lead the kitchen at Kings Chapel , our unique wedding and events venue in the heart of Old Amersham. Part of Old Amersham Hotels, Kings Chapel is located within the grounds of the historic Kings Arms Hotel and hosts weddings, celebrations and events throughout the year. This is a very hands-on role . We are looking for a Head Chef who wants to be in the kitchen, cooking alongside their team and leading from the front. You will take full ownership of the kitchen operation, combining excellent culinary standards with strong leadership and commercial awareness. Key responsibilities Lead the day-to-day kitchen operation, with a strong focus on quality, consistency and efficient delivery. Personally cook and lead service, including weddings, tastings and other functions. Plan and execute high-volume banqueting and wedding services. Lead, motivate, train and develop the kitchen brigade. Develop dishes and menus that balance quality, consistency and commercial performance. Manage food costings, procurement and profit margins to achieve agreed GP targets. Take ownership of kitchen budgets, stock control, ordering and wage costs. Manage suppliers to ensure quality products at competitive prices. Plan and authorise rotas and holidays in line with the requirements of the wedding and events calendar. Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, allergen management, cleanliness and health & safety. Oversee kitchen equipment, maintenance and deep cleaning. Manage team performance, attendance, appraisals and other people-management responsibilities. Work closely with the Weddings, Front of House and wider management teams to ensure every event is delivered successfully. About you We are looking for someone who has: Previous Head Chef experience in a busy banqueting, wedding or events environment essential. Strong experience delivering high-volume functions to a consistently high standard. A genuine hands-on approach and a passion for cooking as well as leading a team. Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and motivate a kitchen brigade. Excellent knowledge of food costing, GP, stock management and kitchen budgets. Strong knowledge of food hygiene, allergens and kitchen health & safety. Excellent organisation and the ability to remain calm during demanding services. The flexibility required for a wedding and events operation, including regular weekend working. A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house teams. Chef whites are provided.
