This is a unique opportunity to make a genuine impact within a nurturing, highly supportive environment. About the Role You will be working with classes of just 6 students, supported by two experienced Teaching Assistants in each room. This school focuses on the whole child, and success in the role is driven far more by who you are—the way you communicate, connect, and build trust—than by ticking boxes. All students are deaf, so you must be able to communicate fluently using British Sign Language (BSL) or be a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA). Key Responsibilities • Teach and support learners using BSL and visual communication strategies, • Build strong, positive relationships with students, • Think creatively to engage pupils and adapt to individual needs, • Communicate with parents and carers by phone to share updates, • Work collaboratively with a highly skilled team This is a residential school, based in Brighton. • Monday–Thursday: 9:30am – 4:00pm, • Exceptional support for ECTs – the school invests in training and professional growth, • After two years of permanent employment, the school will fully fund the Teacher of the Deaf qualification, • Free homemade lunch provided daily by the on-site cook, • Free on-site parking, • Easily accessible by local bus routes, • Confident BSL user or a CODA, • Enthusiastic, energetic and proactive, • We have Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form students - so able to accommodate all age groups, • Someone who thinks outside the box and brings creativity to their teaching, • A relationship-builder who can connect deeply with learners
