Portfolio Manager – Legacy Private Market Investments Leeds (hybrid working) Competitive Salary & Benefits An opportunity to make a difference At Border to Coast our purpose is to make a difference. As part of the development of Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, and in light of the Government’s “LGPS: Fit for the Future” report, we will be responsible for the management of our Partner Funds’ extensive legacy private market investments. This includes investments across real estate, private equity, infrastructure, private credit, and diversified alternatives on a global basis. Legacy management will involve a regular review of manager reporting, interaction with underlying managers, identification and resolution of material issues, and reporting back to our Partner Funds. Portfolio Manager – Legacy Private Market Investments We are looking for multiple Portfolio Managers to join our Alternatives function, each leading the oversight and management of a portfolio of legacy private market investments. These portfolios will be split out into: • Legacy Real Estate, • Legacy Private Equity, Private Credit, Infrastructure & Diversified Alternatives One Portfolio Manager will cover legacy private market investments that have been made across real estate and the other Portfolio Manager will be responsible for legacy private market investments across private equity, private credit, infrastructure and a range of diversified alternatives. Collectively, the Legacy private markets portfolio stands at c.£10bn AUM. This is a new function Border to Coast is establishing as it becomes responsible for these legacy assets in accordance with the Border to Coast Investment Policy, investment process, procedures and relevant legal or regulatory documentation. The role will encompass the routine evaluation of manager reports, proactive engagement with underlying managers, timely identification and resolution of material issues and ongoing communication and updates to our Partner Funds. We are interested in hearing from Portfolio Managers with either experience of monitoring and managing indirect real estate portfolios or from Portfolio Managers with more generalist experience across a range of alternative asset classes and products which may include private equity, private credit and/or infrastructure. In addition you will have a keen interest in the oversight and management of a broad range of open and closed-ended investments. In this role your responsibilities will include: • Oversight and management of legacy private markets investment portfolios and existing Border to Coast investments in line with internal procedures and customer requirements., • Regular review of the performance, attribution, exposure and risk metrics of the sub-fund/portfolio, • Oversight and production of quarterly and ad hoc reporting, • Preparation and maintenance of extensive due diligence reports to support investment decision making and portfolio construction using internal and external sources of data and research, • You will also develop strong relationships with external managers and other industry participants., • In addition, you will participate in investment team meetings, liaise with the research and risk team to ensure an integrated investment approach and provide feedback on the quality, depth and focus of research. Educated to Degree level and with a suitable investment management qualification, you will have relevant experience of portfolio oversight across real estate or a diverse range of Alternative investments, leading due diligence, including reviewing investment, operational and ESG factors. You will also demonstrate clear investment decision making and portfolio and risk management experience. With a keen interest in and understanding of investment markets, long-term investment, and a commitment to responsible investment and sustainability, you will have experience of using investment management software, problem solving and decision-making capability and strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Border to Coast Border to Coast is the largest LGPS (Local Government Pension Scheme) pool in the UK. It is owned by 11 Local Government Pension Schemes (‘Partner Funds’). Portfolio Manager – Development Finance Leeds | £65,000 Salary |Hybrid Working (50% Office / 50% Remote) We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to join a Development Finance team in Leeds. This is a key role focused on overseeing a portfolio of residential development loans, supporting SME housebuilders across the UK, and ensuring strong credit stewardship throughout the project lifecycle. Reporting to the MD, Development Finance, you will play a central role in monitoring performance, identifying emerging risks early, and working closely with Lending Directors and Relationship Managers to protect and enhance portfolio quality. This is a hands-on position requiring strong analytical capability, commercial awareness, and the confidence to engage directly with borrowers and professional advisers. Key Responsibilities Portfolio Oversight & Credit Stewardship • Monitor loan expiries, interest tranches, construction milestones and sales performance, • Conduct site inspections to assess build progress, quality and budget adherence, • Review cashflows and variance analysis against approved models, • Complete monthly delay and cost overrun analysis, • Monitor unit sales performance and flag slow sales or undervalue risks, • Maintain accurate portfolio data and management systems, • Partner with Lending Directors, Relationship Managers and Credit teams, • Build strong relationships with borrowers, monitoring surveyors, valuers and legal advisers, • Contribute to annual credit reviews and portfolio strategy discussions, • 3–5 years’ experience in property lending or development finance, • Strong understanding of residential development funding structures, • Commercially aware with strong analytical and credit assessment skills, • Excellent stakeholder management and communication capability, • Ability to travel for site visits, • Basic construction knowledge (desirable), • Experience with Phoebus, Keystone or Tableau (advantageous) You will be detail-driven, proactive in identifying risk, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, project-based lending environment.
