Job Title: Site Engineer – BB Multi Utilities Location: Coventry – HS2 Project Contract: 3 Months PAYE, 45 hours per week Randstad Sourceright are recruiting on behalf of Balfour Beatty for an experienced Site Engineer – Multi Utilities to join the team on the prestigious High Speed 2 (HS2) project in Coventry. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a Tier One contractor environment on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, playing a key role in the accurate delivery of civil engineering and multi-utility works — with a strong emphasis on technical setting out excellence. Key Responsibilities • Carry out precise and accurate setting out for civil engineering and utility works using modern surveying equipment., • Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and required tolerances., • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and highway standards., • Conduct quality assurance checks, inspections, and maintain detailed documentation., • Produce and maintain accurate as-built surveys and site records., • Coordinate works around multi-utility installations (gas, water, power, communications)., • Liaise effectively with site management, subcontractors, designers, and client representatives., • Support programme delivery through proactive planning and sequencing of works., • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations., • Mentor and support BBMU apprentices and graduate engineers where required. Candidate Profile Essential: • Demonstrable experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects (Tier One contractor experience preferred)., • High-level competence in setting out, including use of:, • GPS survey equipment, • Pipe Laser, • Proven experience in highway drainage and foul drainage installation., • Strong understanding of highway specifications and technical standards., • Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation., • Valid CSCS Card., • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, professional approach to safety and quality., • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills., • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Desirable: • Experience coordinating multi-utility installations (gas, water, power, communications)., • HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline., • SMSTS or SSSTS certification., • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
