Who we’re looking for Zivio is a rapidly growing and highly ambitious Procure-tech scale-up. We are looking for a Mid-Level Ruby Engineer who will be responsible for working on our award-winning Rails application. You’ll be spending most of your time coding and working in close liaison with our team of developers to design and develop new features for our clients and support our existing client needs. We operate in a highly agile environment with multiple product releases each week so this position gives you the chance to hit the ground running and start making an impact from day one. You will also have the opportunity to build on your skills by learning about and working with the many languages and technologies we use. We're a fast-moving, scale-up tech business so life is always busy and never boring, and we need someone with drive and initiative to provide a meaningful contribution to the team as we scale up our business and continue to develop the product for our customers in the UK and overseas. Responsibilities • Develop features and improvements to the Zivio product in a secure, well-tested, and performant way, • Analyze and interpret highly complex data to arrive at actionable recommendations, • Collaborate with Technology Leadership and other stakeholders within Engineering to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment, • Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance, • Solve technical problems of moderate scope and complexity., • Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review., • Confidently ship small to medium sized features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Collaborate with the team on larger projects., • 2+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails, working on production code, • University degree in Computer Science or related subject or certified developer training course., • Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances, • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, • Happy to work remotely as part of a small team, • Communicates clearly, in a friendly way, • Knack for writing clean, readable code, • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application, • Experience with AWS services, particularly S3 & ECS, • Experience with Git and continuous integration tools, • Ruby on Rails 8, • Ruby 3.4+, • Stimulus/Javascript, • OpenAI/Claude LLMs, • Docker, • Terraform, • AWS, • Heroku, • Carry out development tasks as part of 6-week development cycle, • Plan and architect solutions to medium to large scale product enhancements, • Answer support queries from clients and internal colleagues, • Perform code reviews of your peer’s work, • Competitive salary, • Company pension scheme., • Vibrant and friendly team culture with regular socials., • 35 days holiday per year inclusive of bank holidays., • Family-friendly work environment., • £750 annual Learning and Development budget., • Latest laptop provided., • Paid tickets and time off to attend the Brighton Ruby conference every year
