Eventus Legal are seeking a Solicitor & Head of Family to join a well-established law firm in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. This is a full-time, permanent job position paying up to £65,000, dependent on experience, and combining an active privately funded family law caseload with responsibility for leading and developing a small multi-site team. The hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a one-hour lunch break, with hybrid working and remote working from home for two days per week. The employer is looking to appoint as soon as possible. Based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, the Solicitor & Head of Family will combine day-to-day family fee earning with oversight of the department, supporting colleagues across several offices and contributing to wider leadership decisions. • Manage a caseload of privately funded family matters, including divorce, cohabitation, ancillary relief and private children work., • Lead, mentor and support a multi-site team of three fee earners, a trainee solicitor, a paralegal and a legal assistant., • Set and deliver departmental plans aligned with the wider business strategy and contribute to Senior Leadership Team discussions., • Monitor KPIs including billing, fees received, work in progress, aged debt, capacity and profitability, taking action where needed., • Hold regular team and performance meetings, supporting supervision, development, wellbeing, recruitment, onboarding and training., • Maintain high standards of client care, file progression, confidentiality, risk management and regulatory compliance., • Develop external relationships and support marketing, business development and referral generation across the team. The successful Solicitor & Head of Family will need strong privately funded family law experience together with the commercial awareness and people skills required to lead a department effectively. • Strong experience managing privately funded family matters, including divorce, cohabitation, ancillary relief and private children work., • A successful track record of achieving billing targets and managing performance against agreed KPIs., • Experience leading, supervising or mentoring colleagues, with the ability to support a team working across multiple sites., • Commercial awareness and confidence using financial and performance information to monitor departmental performance., • Strong communication, influencing and coaching skills, with the emotional intelligence to manage performance constructively., • Sound judgment, decision-making, resilience, conflict management and time management skills., • A clear commitment to client care, professional standards, risk management and compliance, alongside strong IT capability.
