Senior Combustion Engineer / Combustion Engineer sought, Greenwich. A leading and rapidly growing low carbon energy organisation are seeking a Senior Combustion Engineer (Commercial Gas) to report directly to the Technical Manager and support the delivery of operational excellence across a portfolio of heat network assets. You will be responsible for delivering operation and maintenance services across a fleet of district heating and energy centre installations. This is a varied and hands-on role, involving: • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM), Reactive call-outs, Fault finding and repairs, Planned remediation works and Project-based improvement works. You will play a key role in improving plant reliability, performance, and overall network efficiency. We are looking for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer with a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience working in plant rooms with boilers exceeding 1MW. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, reliable, and committed to contributing positively to a safe and supportive working culture. Experience working on commercial non-gas plant (pumps, valves, strainers, plate heat exchangers, pressurisation units, degassers, etc.) would be highly advantageous. Experience within district heating networks is desirable but not essential. Day to day, • Carry out PPM in line with maintenance schedules, • Service and repair commercial gas boilers and associated plant, • Fault find and replace components across a range of manufacturers, • Attend reactive call-outs to reinstate heat and resolve plant failures, • Participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota, • Review root causes of plant failure and resolve operational issues, • Manage site-based project work and support scope development for plant remediation, • Safely isolate mechanical and electrical equipment prior to works, • Maintain accurate service records and complete online work orders, • Provide technical support to colleagues when required, • Work alongside manufacturers to develop product expertise, • Support and mentor junior engineers, • Identify and promote health & safety improvements What you’ll need to succeed, • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer, • Valid commercial gas registration, • Testing & Purging (TPCP1) and Gas Booster (BMP1), • NVQ Level 2 in Gas/Plumbing and Gas, • Experience servicing commercial boilers from manufacturers such as Hoval, Hamworthy, Ideal, Buderus, etc., • Operational knowledge of commercial gas boilers and plant rooms, • Ability to read P&IDs and mechanical schematics, • Basic electrical competency, • Competent in mechanical and electrical safe isolation, • P and Part G qualifications would be beneficial.
