Field Service Engineer with an Electronics or Electrical background We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team at Ocular where you will carry out installations, fault finding and maintenance of vehicle CCTV systems and driver aid technology across bus, coach and rail fleets. A hands-on role covering service engineering, auto electrical systems and field-based technical support. If you’ve also worked in the following roles, we’d also like to hear from you: Service Engineer, Auto Electrician, CCTV Engineer, Installation Engineer, Mobile Engineer SALARY: £37,000 per annum + Benefits LOCATION: Candidates can be based in either Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland as you will be travelling to customer sites in both locations JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Field Service Engineer with proven experience in CCTV systems, auto electricals or electronics within a field-based engineering environment. As a Field Service Engineer you will carry out installation, preventative maintenance and fault finding on vehicle CCTV systems and driver aid technology across bus, coach and rail customers throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Working remotely with strong team support, the Field Service Engineer will ensure service level agreements are met, deliver high standards of workmanship and provide professional technical support to customers. Flexibility for night work and occasional overnight stays is required. DUTIES Your duties as the Field Service Engineer include: • Installation and Commissioning: Install and configure vehicle CCTV systems and driver aid equipment to specification, • Fault Finding and Repairs: Diagnose and rectify electrical and electronic faults within agreed timescales, • Preventative Maintenance: Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to ensure system reliability, • Customer Service: Deliver professional technical support while enhancing customer relationships, • Technical Reporting: Complete PDA reports before leaving site and provide accurate updates to management and helpdesk, • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to company and customer health and safety policies at all times, • Stock Control: Manage personal stock levels and ensure proper care of tools and equipment, • Communication: Maintain clear communication between field operations and regional management, • Training Support: Assist in the development and mentoring of other Field Service Engineers where required CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL • Previous experience in CCTV, auto electricals, electronics or a similar technical engineering role, • Proven experience of fault finding, installation and maintenance within a field-based environment, • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate customer requirements, • IT competent with the ability to complete digital reports, • Full UK driving licence, • Ability to work flexibly including night work and occasional overnight stays DESIRABLE • Knowledge of DVRs and associated components, • Electrical qualification such as NVQ, BTEC or apprenticeship trained, • A background in the bus, coach, rail or wider transport industry, • GCSEs or equivalent, preferably in English, Maths or Science Our Commitment to Equality and Diversity Synectics plc and its subsidiaries are committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment and in our employment policies for recruitment, selection, training, development, and promotion.
