Regional Command is a complex and busy organisation supporting some or the Armys and Defences most important objectives. RCs information management, assurance and exploitation functions sit across the organisation, geographically spread through the UK and in overseas locations. This new role will bring coherence to the functions and provide functional leadership and focus to the professional staff that work within them. It will ensure that knowledge is at the heart of the enterprise and that all parts of the organisation are enabled to exploit their data to deliver their best. You will lead and improve RCs information & knowledge capability through: • Governance and Compliance, • Develop, implement and maintain Knowledge & Information Management (KIM) strategy, policy, guidance and a compliance framework., • Monitor procurement activities to ensure alignment with KIM principles and MOD policy., • Collaborate with audit and assurance teams to conduct regular audits, assess risks and ensure compliance with Information Governance regimes., • Establish reporting measures to highlight trends and support continuous improvement in information compliance., • Stay up to date with relevant legislation and adjust practices accordingly., • Complete Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to ensure compliance with DPA 2018 and the Records Act., • Information Management Oversight & Assurance, • Oversee access and security of information held by RC, safeguarding assets with appropriate controls, • Support the development of RC information management systems, working with Information Assurance (IA) and security specialistsparticularly following breaches., • Manage retention and disposal processes and supervise classified material through a robust inspection regime., • Provide expert advice on information management matters and risk mitigation., • Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement, • Provide Functional Leadership for the HQInformation Management (IM), Information Exploitation (IX) and IA team (circa 15 civil servants and contractors), and for KIM professionals across the organisation., • Lead training and quality assurance on information management across the organisation., • Build relationships with stakeholders, Information Asset Owners (IAOs), and department wide networks to promote compliance and embed KIM policy., • Represent RC at KIM boards and act as the lead for Data Protection and Information Management., • Maintain connections with the Head of Digital Profession and work closely with Defence Digital to ensure best practice and capability alignment., • Operational Integration and Improvement, • Facilitate effective information sharing across functional areas to maximise the value of RC's information assets., • Support development of commanders critical information requirements., • Ensure continuity of access to information through technological and organisational changes (e.g. mergers, acquisitions, or functional transfers)., • Support the procurement of information technology systems and applications with a KIM lens., • Conduct information audits and advise on mitigation strategies where necessary., • Collaborate with teams across the department to align messaging, understand concerns and foster consensus., • Collaborate with KIM leads in SJC and its BLBs in development of IM & IX strategy., • Information Exploitation, • Lead initiatives to improve IX within the organisation., • Prioritise resources in support of IX development against business needs and command priorities., • Support and champion adoption of new technologies in delivery of IX., • The post does not currently have line management responsibilities, although changes to the function may see the incumbent take on management responsibilities for around 15 civil service and contracted within the first few months of appointment.
