Field Service EngineerLocation: Corby, NorthamptonshireSalary: £37,000 - £40,000 depending on experience, with flexibility for the right candidate who can demonstrate strong technical capability and relevant industry experience.About the RoleBarker Ross is recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist in mechanised irrigation and water management. We are looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer to join their growing team, providing installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems at customer sites across the UK.This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll spend the majority of your time working in the field, with occasional workshop-based duties, supporting customers with the installation, fault finding, and maintenance of large-scale irrigation equipment.You'll work on equipment including:Irrigation booms and hose reelsPumps and pumping systemsHydraulic systemsDiesel-driven equipmentElectrical control systems, automation, sensors, and controlsThe role involves diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, testing equipment, and ensuring systems operate efficiently while delivering excellent customer service.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, service, maintain, and repair irrigation systems at customer sitesDiagnose faults on pumps, motors, valves, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, sensors, and electrical control systemsCarry out planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairsRead and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsLiaise professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal teamsIdentify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performanceComplete service reports and maintain accurate recordsEnsure all work is completed safely and in line with company standardsAbout YouWe welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Engineering, Forklift Truck (FLT) Engineering , or similar field service roles.You'll ideally have:Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer , Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Mobile EngineerStrong fault-finding and diagnostic skillsKnowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, pumps, electrical systems, automation, or industrial machineryThe ability to work independently and manage your own workloadExcellent communication and customer service skillsA proactive, organised approach with a willingness to develop specialist knowledgeA full UK driving licence (essential)What's On Offer£37,000 - £40,000 salary depending on experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidatesCompany vehicle (where applicable)Varied field-based work with a high degree of autonomyOpportunity to develop specialist expertise in mechanised irrigation and water managementSupportive, experienced team environmentLong-term career progression within an established and growing specialist businessApply NowIf you're a practical engineer who enjoys working in the field, solving technical problems, and delivering excellent service to customers, we'd love to hear from you.Send your CV to or click APPLY NOW .Barker Ross Group values diversity and promotes equality.
