Once you have completed your training, you are guaranteed a job with us. After working with us for 1 year, we refund your training fees on a weekly basis up until year 3. Should you already hold you ADI license, no training is required. Anyone can become a Driving Instructor, recently we have recruited candidates from driving roles such as HGV Drivers, Teachers, Delivery Drivers, Accountants and Estate Agents. We also have successfully recruited candidates who decided to completely change their career from sales right to engineering. As an Operational Support Grade, you will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day running of a busy prison. You will be part of a supportive team doing all sorts of things – from security and searches at the gate, to managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring phone calls and CCTV. It’s a varied and active job involving tasks which combine some desk duties with more physical tasks such as lifting, carrying and walking to escort vehicles across the prison grounds. Driving duties are an essential part of the OSG role at HMP Isle of Wight and therefore candidates are required to hold a full, valid UK Driving Licence. Someone like you You don’t need any qualifications to do this job, but if you are a good communicator and can keep calm under pressure, this fast-paced role could be the start of a successful career for you. Helping to keep a prison running smoothly and safely you will have good judgement and common sense, and, above all, be a great team player. As an OSG, you will work a variety of shifts, including weekend and night shifts, to keep things running. Unlike our prison officers, your contact with prisoners is limited, although depending on the particular prison you may interact with prisoners occasionally. It can provide opportunities to move into other prison jobs, including opportunities to apply for the OSG to Prison Officer conversion scheme. Field Service Engineer- Middlesbrough We're recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a well-established leader in physical security systems. This role suits a hands-on engineer with electromechanical skills who enjoys varied, site-based work. You'll be installing, servicing, and repairing high-security equipment such as gates, barriers, and bollards at client sites across the UK. A company vehicle, tools, PPE, and phone are provided. You'll receive a competitive salary, uncapped overtime , and training on specialist equipment. Key Responsibilities: Install, service, and maintain automated physical security systems. Diagnose and repair electrical/mechanical faults. Conduct site surveys and complete job documentation. Travel to client sites across the UK - including long-distance driving and overnight stays. Participate in an on-call rota (occasional weekend/night work may be required). Skills & Experience Required: Multiskilled in mechanical and electrical disciplines (strong in one, with solid knowledge of the other). Experience working on automated/industrial machinery (e.g. steel works, food processing, agricultural repairs). Full UK driving licence . British passport holder (in-date) and able to pass MOD security vetting . Previous gate/barrier/entry system experience is highly desirable. Able to read mechanical and electrical drawings. Familiar with PLC controls (preferred). Hydraulics knowledge is an advantage. Excellent fault-finding skills and customer-facing communication. Holds an ECS or CSCS card (preferred).
