This is a strategic role where you will serve as the university's subject matter expert on fire safety and facilities-related health and safety matters across our entire estate. As the pivotal figure in our health and safety service delivery, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the strategic management and delivery of specialised safety services. Your extensive knowledge of health and safety management systems should be complimented by a sound understanding of current fire safety legislation, technical standards, and codes of practice including BS9999 and Approved Document B. With considerable experience in the further education sector or a similarly large, complex organisation, you will have a proven track record of managing health and safety services, undertaking safety audits, and establishing effective policies and monitoring procedures. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to build relationships at all levels, deliver quality training to diverse audiences, and provide authoritative advice on complex health and safety matters. Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis is essential, along with the ability to gain commitment from stakeholders to drive safety improvements. Experience in facilities management, construction, CDM 2015 Regulations, or working with Principal Contractors would be advantageous, as would a DSEAR risk assessment qualification or SMSTS certification.
