Assistant Site Manager Department: Construction / Operations Reports to: Head of Operations – dotted line report to Site Manager Job Overview: As an Assistant Site Manager at Griggs, you will play a key supporting role in the effective management of construction sites, assisting the Site Manager in overseeing all aspects of project delivery. You will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations, learning on-the-job from the Site Manager, and developing your skills in managing site teams, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of quality. Performance Expectations: 1. Project Support: Assist the Site Manager in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Help coordinate site operations and resources, learning to execute best-in-class project delivery., 2. Team Support: Support the Site Manager in leading site teams, including subcontractors and tradespeople, promoting a collaborative, positive, and respectful working environment. Assist in maintaining open lines of communication and promoting teamwork to achieve shared goals., 3. Health & Safety Compliance: Work closely with the Site Manager to enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on site. Assist in ensuring that a safe and compliant working environment is maintained for all involved., 4. Stakeholder Communication: Act as a support point of contact for clients, consultants, and internal teams, helping to provide updates and address any issues as directed by the Site Manager. Learn to maintain trust and professionalism in all interactions., 5. Quality Control & Reporting: Assist the Site Manager in maintaining rigorous quality control standards, ensuring that all work reflects Griggs' high standards. Help with documentation and progress reporting, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in line with project expectations. Essential Skills & Experience: • Previous experience or education in the construction industry, ideally with exposure to high-end or bespoke projects., • Understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and building regulations., • A willingness to learn, with a strong interest in developing leadership and team management skills., • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations, with a keen interest in developing the ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions., • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications (or willingness to learn)., • Strong problem-solving capabilities, with a flexible approach to overcoming challenges on-site., • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders., • A valid CSCS card and relevant health and safety certifications (e.g., First Aid) are desirable. Desirable Skills & Experience: • A relevant construction management qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, or Degree in Construction Management) or currently pursuing such qualifications., • Experience or interest in working on high-value, luxury, or bespoke projects., • Knowledge of building information modelling (BIM) and modern construction techniques (desirable but not required).
