    Barista / Shop Supervisor
    £25000–£32000 yearly
    Full-time
    Fenchurch, City of London

Why this job exists Italy gave the world its most loved cuisine and has never built a global fast food brand out of it. Every other big category has a winner. The Italian seat is empty. We are going after it. al volo is one shop in the City of London, cooking the full Italian table from scratch every morning: a hot main, two sides, focaccia to finish. That is the Nonna's Box. We are 4.9 stars on Google and 4.9 on Deliveroo, and we have never spent a penny on advertising to get there. The food did that. We need someone to run the shop properly, so we can get on with building the rest of it. The honest version We are small. Two founders, one site, a kitchen and a counter. Ale runs the food. Elena runs the brand and the commercial side. There is no head office, no HR department, and nobody else to hand a problem to. This seat has just come free. Rather than look for someone to fill the same shoes, we sat down and worked out what the business actually needs. This is that job, and it is a bigger one. Some days here are messy. Things change. You will get real responsibility far faster than you would anywhere else, and nobody is going to hold your hand through it. That is the deal. We think it is a good one. What you will own The opening. You are first in. You unlock, you set up, you get the machines on and the counter ready before the first customer walks in at 7. The kitchen team join you around 8. The morning is yours. Breakfast. We are launching a proper Italian breakfast in September: pick your base, pick your toppings, low prep, fast. You will set it up, run it, watch what sells and tell us what to change. It is a brand new revenue line and you are the one building it. The coffee. You are on the machine through the morning. Italian espresso standards, at speed, with a smile for the regulars. The lunch rush. From 11:30 you lead the floor: counter flow, queue moving, display full and looking right, Deliveroo out on time, everyone in the right place. The shop. Rotas, stock, standards, compliance. Temperature logs, cleaning records, allergens, food safety. Not glamorous. Completely non-negotiable. Yours. Real budgets. Coffee and bar, packaging, waste, and in time your own front-of-house hours. We will teach you how all of it works. Then we will expect you to have opinions about it. The shop when we are not in it. Decisions get made. Problems get solved. Nothing sits waiting for a founder to come back. Your first 90 days Month one. Learn the shop properly: behind the counter, on the machine, on the floor. Get to know the team and the regulars. Set the baselines on the numbers you are about to own. Month two. Launch breakfast with us. Take the bar, packaging and consumables budgets. Month three. Take the front-of-house rota and the labour budget. Tell us the three things you want to change, and start changing them. Who we are looking for You have run a site, a floor or a shift somewhere busy, and you were good at it. You know your way around an espresso machine, properly. You are organised in a way other people can see. But mostly: you are the person who spots the thing that is wrong and fixes it before anyone asks. Who has ideas and says them out loud. Who wants to build something rather than just work somewhere. This job is not for you if: You want a job that stops the second the clock says so You need a manual, a policy and a manager to check it "That is not my job" is a sentence you have used recently You would rather be comfortable than be part of something It is for you if you want to look at something in three years and know you helped build it. You will need: Experience leading a team in hospitality, retail or food service Real barista skills. We are serious about coffee. Food safety knowledge and the discipline to keep records properly The right to work in the UK To be comfortable with numbers, rotas and a spreadsheet What you get £30,000 a year, salaried, plus a discretionary bonus Monday to Friday. We are closed at weekends. That said, we are a young business, and now and then something will need doing that does not fit neatly inside a week. We are looking for someone who is there when it counts. 28 days holiday including bank holidays Lunch on us every day, and all the coffee you can drink Level 3 Food Safety and First Aid, funded by us if you do not already have them Room to grow as we do. The ambition is a second site, and then more after that. We would far rather grow the people already here than hire over them. Run this shop well and you will be in the room for whatever comes next, whether that turns out to be the next site or the office side of the business. Thanks Alessandro & Elena Founders, al volo

Commission-only · Uncapped · Ground floor · Full-time London (in-person + phone) & Dubai (phone) I'll be straight with you, because the right person will respect that more than a polished pitch. We're Strive AI. We build AI systems for local businesses — the kind of tech that answers every call, books appointments and chases leads 24/7 for salons, clinics, gyms, restaurants and trades. The product is genuinely good and the market is wide open. We're also new. I'm not going to dress that up. There's no big team to inherit, no years of case studies, no safety net. What there is: a working product, a proven sales process, a dashboard that runs the whole operation, and a founder who builds fast and pays properly. So this isn't a job for someone who wants comfortable. It's for someone who looks at "early-stage" and sees the opportunity instead of the risk. The role You build and run the sales floor. Not sell — manage the people who sell. • Hire. Find hungry, reliable people who'll treat this like the 9-5 it is — walking into businesses in London and closing face to face, and running phone outreach in Dubai., • Interview. Screen and interview applicants using the questions and process we give you. You won't be guessing — you'll be running a system., • Onboard & train. We'll teach you exactly how the method works, then you teach it to every person you bring on., • Manage, properly. This is the real job. Daily check-ins, holding people to their numbers, keeping the floor motivated and moving. The tools to track all of it are already built — your job is to use them and stay on top of people who need staying on top of., • Scale. Grow this into a floor of 50+ that consistently closes. Who I'm looking for • Someone who's managed or built a sales team before, or knows in their bones they can., • A proper operator — organised, relentless on follow-up, comfortable holding people accountable without being soft or being a tyrant., • Someone who genuinely wants to take a bet on something early and own a piece of the outcome., • Hard worker. Full stop. This is a pure play — you put the work in, you win big. You coast, you earn nothing. The deal 6% commission on every deal your team closes Plus £75 for every rep you hire who lands their first close. It's commission-only and I won't pretend otherwise. But do the maths on a floor of 50 people each closing 8–12 deals a month and you're looking at a six-figure income you built yourself and control entirely. Uncapped. No ceiling I'm putting on you. If you want a salary to sit still for, this isn't it. If you want to build something and get paid like an owner for it, let's talk. Apply Message me with: 1. Where you've managed or built a team before (or why you know you can)., 2. Why an early-stage, commission-only bet appeals to you rather than scares you off., 3. How many hours a week you can genuinely commit. Serious applicants only. I'll move fast for the right person. — Scarlett, Founder, Strive AI

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Head Chef who wants more than just a kitchen to run. At The Lass, you will have the freedom to shape the food identity, create your own menus and specials, work with great suppliers and lead a kitchen with genuine ambition. What we offer our Head Chef As Head Chef at The Lass, you will enjoy: • Full autonomy to create your own menus and specials, • Access to our Apprenticeship Scheme and Development Programmes, • Regular culinary masterclasses covering topics such as game, butchery and shellfish, • Inspirational food trips with our top-quality suppliers, • Regular Chef Forums with other Head Chefs to share ideas, inspire and develop, • Free meals while on shift, • 20% discount in all Young’s Pubs, • 30% discount on overnight stays in our Pubs with Rooms, • Share Save Scheme, • Enhanced Company Pension Scheme, • 28 days holiday per year, • On-site car park, • The chance to lead a kitchen in a beautiful, established, food-led pub with huge potential About the food The Lass is built around the idea that a great pub menu should feel familiar, generous and deeply satisfying, while still showing real craft. We want food that guests recognise, crave and return for, delivered with the confidence and discipline of a serious kitchen. The food style is seasonal British pub cooking with a refined, produce-led edge. Think beef tartare with crisp game chips, mince on dripping toast, terrines, pâtés and pickles made in-house, proper pies with deep glossy fillings and buttery pastry, rich braises, hand-cut chips, excellent roasts, seasonal fish, steaks, chops, puddings and simple vegetable-led dishes treated with real care. This is not about overworked plates or unnecessary fuss. The best dishes at The Lass should feel bold, honest and full of flavour. A guest should be able to look at the menu and immediately want to eat, whether they are stopping in after a walk in Richmond Park, settling in by the fire, or booking a long Sunday lunch with friends. Our direction is rooted in: British classics done properly Roasts, pies, puddings, seasonal fish, steaks, braises, sandwiches, snacks and sharing dishes, all cooked with proper technique and a strong sense of place. Gutsy, confident flavours We want food with depth: rich stocks, glossy sauces, sharp pickles, proper seasoning, crisp textures and generous portions. Nothing should feel timid, decorative or apologetic. Seasonal ingredients and thoughtful sourcing Menus should move with the seasons, using British produce wherever possible and celebrating the best of each moment — spring greens, summer tomatoes, autumn game, winter roots, coastal fish, orchard fruit and proper cheese. House-made touches Pickles, chutneys, sauces, pastry, stocks, dressings, relishes and snacks should give the menu its own personality and create value through skill rather than gimmicks. A strong bar and snack offer The Lass should have food that works for every occasion: a quick pint and something salty, a casual lunch, a celebratory dinner, a garden gathering or a proper Sunday roast. Think beef tartare with game chips, mince on dripping toast, rarebit, croquettes, potted meats, seasonal tarts, proper sandwiches, pork chops, pies and generous sharing plates. Sunday as a key part of the offer Sunday lunch is central to The Lass. We want roasts that feel abundant, consistent and worth travelling for, with excellent gravy, crisp potatoes, proper vegetables, generous Yorkshire puddings and the kind of execution that turns first-time guests into regulars. Seasonal specials with purpose Specials should feel exciting but grounded: whole fish, grilled chops, game, offal, slow braises, tarts, pies, seasonal vegetables and dishes that make full use of the kitchen’s skill. The menu should change enough to feel alive, but always remain recognisably pub-first. The right Head Chef will understand that The Lass does not need to chase trends. It needs to serve proper British pub food with confidence, discipline and soul — food that feels rooted in tradition, sharpened by skill and generous enough to bring people back. What we look for in a Head Chef We are looking for someone who: • Has experience leading a fresh food kitchen, • Loves seasonal British produce and proper pub food done well, • Can create menus that are creative, commercial and consistent, • Understands GP, stock control, ordering and labour management, • Leads from the front and brings energy, structure and pride to the kitchen, • Can train, motivate and develop their team, • Takes ownership of standards, food safety and kitchen organisation, • Thrives during busy services, especially Sundays, events and seasonal peaks, • Wants to make their mark on a pub with character, heritage and ambition About you You will be creative but organised, ambitious but grounded, and confident enough to take ownership of the kitchen while working closely with the General Manager to keep building The Lass as a local worth travelling to. This is a role for a chef who wants autonomy, support, development and the chance to lead a kitchen with real identity. Apply now and bring your food, your ideas and your leadership to The Lass O’ Richmond Hill.
