Mobile Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) Location : Derby Job type: Full time / Permanent Salary: £40,000-£45,000 Job Description Responsible for completing a range of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) tasks and inspections. You will be required to complete daily, weekly, monthly, and six-monthly PPM activities in line with SFG20 requirements. This includes completing and documenting check sheets and reports for each PPM task, as well as conducting daily and weekly system checks. Maintain effective communication with the client’s on-site engineering team and produce weekly reports for the Facilities Management (FM) Supervisor outlining site activities and plans. Maintain all electrical and mechanical plant services to industry standards and oversee contractor activities to ensure compliance with risk assessments, method statements, and QHSE permitting requirements. Schedule subcontractor visits and ensure adherence to client security protocols. Possess strong technical knowledge of critical environments, including AHUs, boilers, heat exchangers, BeMS, auxiliary systems, pumps, control circuits, FCUs, fresh air systems, ventilation systems, chilled and controlled water systems, LTHW systems, and HVAC systems. Identify required part replacements and obtain quotations for condition maintenance plans. Ensure statutory engineering maintenance documentation is maintained and accessible. Oversee the completion of PPMs and client service requests in line with SLAs. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and review site SOPs, ERAs, and scenario training materials. Follow company QHSE procedures and implement improvements identified during inspections. Participate in technical training programs, competency assessments, and scenario training exercises. Be part of the out-of-hours call-out rota for site coverage. The role reports directly to the Facilities Management Supervisor/Manager/Coordinator. While there are no direct budgetary responsibilities, the position requires financial awareness and flexibility in service delivery around client needs. Person Specification • Strong experience in data centre or similar clean-room/controlled production environments., • Proficiency in PC and MS Office applications., • Recognised NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, or HVAC (or equivalent)., • Excellent fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills., • Experience with BMS controls and HVAC systems., • Good technical knowledge with the ability to project manage and multitask., • Ability to work to high standards within agreed timescales and minimal supervision., • Knowledge of emergency response, standby, and call-out procedures., • Experience with UPS, standby power, lifts, boilers, and HVAC systems., • Full UK Driving Licence. Qualifications • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)., • Advanced Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Trade (Mechanical Engineering / Plumbing / HVAC or equivalent)., • Proven experience in commercial mechanical maintenance., • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and pumps., • Good communication and customer service skills., • Ability to work independently and manage own schedule effectively. Desirable: • C&G Air Source Heat Pump Systems (2924)., • C&G F-Gas and ODS Regulations (2079)., • IPAF, PASMA, or other access-related qualifications.
