The Accounts Senior prepares financial statements and tax computations while managing workflow, budgets and productivity. \n Working closely with clients, bookkeepers and internal specialists, the Accounts Senior helps resolve queries, identify tax planning opportunities and maintain secure, accurate records. \n The Accounts Senior also supports junior colleagues through training and mentoring while contributing to departmental improvement and specialist projects. \n \n DUTIES \n Your duties as the Accounts Senior include: \n\n • Financial Statements and Corporation Tax: Prepare and complete financial statements for a range of business enterprises, including corporation tax computations\n, • Workflow, Budgets and Productivity: Plan, manage and prioritise workload, budgets and productivity to meet targets and deadlines\n, • Recovery and Non-Chargeable Time: Aim for recovery of at least 95% and keep non-chargeable time to no more than 5% unless otherwise agreed\n, • Quality and Client Queries: Work efficiently to minimise post-review adjustments and clear client queries proactively ahead of meetings\n, • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with personal tax, payroll, VAT and tax specialists, financial services and other teams to identify planning opportunities, advice and key points for Relationship Manager\n, • Client Support and Tax Planning: Work with clients and their bookkeepers or financial controllers, identify tax planning opportunities and help ensure year-end cut-off is measured accurately\n, • Systems and Data Security: Use business systems including APS, Virtual Cabinet, Xero, Digita, QuickBooks and Sage while protecting client data and following GDPR requirements\n, • Turnaround and Communication: Complete work within a four-week turnaround period where appropriate, maintain accurate workflow records and communicate to a high professional standard\n, • Junior Staff Development: Assist with training and mentoring junior colleagues, review VAT returns and support the sign-off of account approaches and budgets\n, • Projects and Improvement: Support specialist projects, help identify ways to improve the department and take responsibility for assigned work\n, • Professional Standards and Development: Build positive external relationships, support equality, diversity and inclusion, and take part in relevant learning and development\n\n \n CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS \n ESSENTIAL \n\n • AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified; an accounts-related degree; or qualified by experience\n, • Previous experience in accountancy practice in a relevant sector\n, • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook\n, • Strong analytical ability with a methodical approach and problem-solving skills\n, • Flexible team player who can also operate effectively independently\n, • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills\n, • Ability to work accurately with consistent care and attention to detail\n, • Strong organisation and time management skills with the ability to manage deadlines\n, • Ability to demonstrate ambition, professionalism, knowledge, integrity and respect\n\n DESIRABLE \n\n • Previous accountancy experience within the agriculture sector\n, • Specialist technical knowledge\n, • Knowledge and experience of Xero, Sage and QuickBooks\n, • Ability to use initiative and consider the wider consequences of financial decisions and advice\n, • Professional and confident approach when responding to challenges\n, • Ability to travel between offices and undertake client home visits if required\n\n \n BENEFITS \n\n • Flexitime scheme around core hours\n, • Birthday leave, a paid charity day and enhanced annual leave with service\n, • Ongoing training, mentoring and development\n, • Defined Contribution pension scheme with a 4% employer contribution for eligible jobholders\n, • Company sick pay scheme outside probation\n, • Free financial review, staff discounts, rewards and recognition\n, • Wellbeing and mental health support with a confidential 24/7 advice line\n, • Free eye tests, refreshments and on-site parking\n, • Calendar of social events\n, • Group Life Assurance for permanent employees\n, • Financial incentives for eligible client and colleague referrals\n\n \n HOW TO APPLY \n To be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
