Fabric Operative – Permanent Role (West Sussex) Up to £34,000 per year (DOE) | 37.5 hours per week | Full‑time About the Opportunity We are working with a leading independent healthcare provider who are looking to appoint a Fabric Operative to join their Engineering team. This is a permanent, full‑time position within a well‑established hospital environment, offering long‑term stability and excellent development opportunities. The successful candidate will support the delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring the site remains safe, compliant and well‑maintained. You will also provide day‑to‑day support to on‑site engineering staff and assist with coordination of subcontractors. A flexible approach to working patterns is required to support operational needs. Key Responsibilities Deliver planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and agreed timeframes. Carry out minor works and fabric repairs to maintain a safe, compliant environment. Provide daily supervision and support to Engineering Operatives on site. Ensure all engineering activities meet relevant health, safety and environmental legislation. Liaise with subcontractors to coordinate on‑site works and ensure high standards of delivery. Provide cover across nearby cluster sites to support holiday, sickness or vacancy requirements. Candidate Requirements Experience managing engineering or maintenance services within a hospital or complex facilities environment. Proven experience leading teams and delegating tasks effectively. Strong understanding of health & safety legislation, including Legionella prevention and fire safety compliance. CSCS card (or ECS card if electrically qualified) at the appropriate level.
