We’re looking for an experienced HR Manager who takes genuine pride in getting things right. Someone who understands that brilliant HR is built on consistent, best-practice processes, data-backed decisions, trusted relationships, and a deep commitment to the experience people have at work. This is a hands-on manager role with true end-to-end ownership of the employee lifecycle across our UK and EU population of around 100 people. You’ll be the senior HR point of contact for the region, partnering closely with managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle; from the moment someone accepts an offer to the day they leave, and everything in between. You’ll also line manage our HR Administrator based in Germany, ensuring consistent, high-quality HR support across both markets while developing them into an increasingly capable HR professional. The ideal candidate is an experienced HR manager with strong knowledge of employment practices, employee relations, payroll administration, and HR operations, who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves and leading a direct report, in a fast-paced, change-rich environment. Responsibilities Team Leadership & Management • Line manage, coach, and develop the HR Administrator (Germany), setting clear objectives and supporting their ongoing professional development, • Oversee day-to-day HR administration and query handling in UK (and supporting Germany), ensuring consistency with UK/EU processes and local legal requirements, • Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews with the HR Administrator, providing feedback and identifying development opportunities, • Act as the escalation point for more complex HR administration, employee relations, and compliance matters HR Operations & Compliance • Own and maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation across the UK and EU, • Ensure compliance with UK and German labour laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements, working with local legal advisors as needed, • Lead audits, reporting, and HR metrics tracking for the region, • Own policy creation, implementation, and updates across the UK/EU, • Oversee visa applications and sponsorship compliance for sponsored employees Talent Acquisition & Onboarding • Oversee onboarding and orientation programmes for new hires in the UK and EU, ensuring the HR Administrator delivers a consistent experience in Germany, • Drive employer branding and candidate experience initiatives, • Partner with hiring managers to lead end-to-end recruitment activities and hiring processes across the UK and EU, ensuring the acquisition of top talent, • Maintain and build relationships with recruitment agencies, ensuring an up to date PSL which is fit for purpose Compensation, Benefits & Employee Experience • Oversee benefits administration and employee inquiries across the UK and EU, • Own monthly payroll administration in partnership with the Mexico Service Centre, including:, • Managing payroll reporting for EE shares, pension, healthcare schemes and internal finance reporting, • Overseeing annual reporting of P11D’s, P60’s, P45’s, and other HMRC requirements, • Lead the administration of all benefits, including annual renewals, and research market trends to propose changes based on employee needs Employee Relations & HR Support • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and workplace matters, • Lead employee relations issues, investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes in line with company practices, coaching the HR Administrator in handling more routine matters, • Support the performance management processes, including reviews, coaching, and development planning, • Act as the senior point of contact for HR queries across the UK and EU, with the HR Administrator triaging day-to-day queries in Germany Learning & Organizational Development • Collaborate with the People Leaders and Executives on supporting and hosting Training Sessions, and support atgCareers page and learning programmes as needed, • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to design interactive courses to be delivered internally Employee Experience • Drive employee engagement, wellbeing, and retention initiatives in local offices in the UK and EU, • Partner with Office Manager on office activities, like monthly socials, summer/winter parties and other social/well-being initiatives, • Support and partner with stakeholders on global and regional newsletters What You Can Expect • A role with genuine breadth: no two days will look the same, and your remit will grow as you do., • Real proximity to the business: you’ll be a visible, valued part of the team, not a back-office function., • The chance to shape how we do HR, not just maintain what already exists., • The opportunity to build your people management experience, developing and growing an HR Administrator based in Germany., • A supportive environment where good ideas are welcomed and people are treated as adults. Key Skills and Experience Required • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, • 7–10+ years of generalist HR experience, including experience managing or mentoring a direct report, • Proven ability to manage a remote or international team member, ideally across the UK/EU, • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices, • Experience handling complex employee relations and performance management matters, • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion, • Proficiency with HRIS systems and data analysis tools, • Accuracy and attention to detail, • Strong customer service ethos and proven resilience, • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), • Strong initiative and ability to pro-actively recommend and implement improvements to HR processes & services, • A positive, adaptable, and professional working attitude, with the confidence to lead, coach and develop others, is essential Preferred • CIPD qualified (Level 5 or above) or working towards chartership, • Working knowledge of German employment law and HR practices, or experience partnering with German HR/payroll functions, • Experience supporting organizational change initiatives, • We recognise that not every candidate will tick every box. Auction Technology Group is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay for this role is up to £75,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
