Team Manager – Sustaining Electrical EngineeringSalary: Up to £63,000 per annum (DOE)Location: Clevedon (Hybrid – onsite with flexibility)Industry: Engineering / Product Lifecycle / Electrical EngineeringOverviewWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Manager – Sustaining Electrical Engineering to lead multiple teams of electrical engineers responsible for delivering safe, compliant, and reliable engineering support across the full product lifecycle.This is a key leadership role within a dynamic engineering environment, focusing on product improvement, technical governance, and continuous development from issue identification through to design change, validation, and in-service performance enhancement.You will play a critical role in ensuring robust engineering delivery across manufacturing, service, field trials, and customer support activities.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development • Lead, manage, and develop a team of ~6 electrical engineers, • Set clear objectives, SMART goals, and structured development plans, • Provide regular coaching, mentoring, and performance management, • Support professional development including progression toward Chartered Engineer statusEngineering Delivery & Governance, • Ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality sustaining engineering outputs, • Own technical governance for engineering changes and approvals, • Manage configuration control including ECR/ECO processes and documentation integrity, • Promote and embed best-practice electrical engineering standardsProblem Solving & Continuous Improvement, • Lead structured root cause analysis (e.g. 8D, FMEA), • Drive containment, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), • Improve product reliability, serviceability, and performance outcomesCross-Functional Collaboration, • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, service, and project teams, • Coordinate engineering work packages across multiple stakeholders, • Support project milestones through effective engineering delivery and governanceValidation & Technical Delivery, • Define and oversee validation and verification strategies, • Ensure full traceability from system requirements to component level, • Support commissioning, field trials, and in-service performance improvementSkills & Experience Required, • Degree in Electrical Engineering (essential) – Master’s desirable, • Chartered Engineer or working towards (desirable), • Strong background in electrical product design and development, • Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams (essential), • Experience in PDP ownership, mentoring, and capability development, • Strong understanding of engineering governance, quality, and compliance, • Experience with project coordination and cross-functional delivery, • Ability to balance technical leadership with people management responsibilities, • Strong communicator with ability to influence engineers and stakeholdersIn Return, You Will ReceiveFinancial & Security, • Bonus up to 7.5% of basic annual salary, • Pension with company contribution of up to 8%, • Life assurance of 4 x basic salaryHealth & Wellbeing, • Cash health plan, • Thriving Wellbeing Programme supporting physical, mental, and social wellbeing, • Discounted gym membershipsTime Off, • 25 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays)On-site Facilities, • Free parking, • Ample cycle storage, lockers, and showers, • Subsidised canteen, • Dedicated wellbeing and prayer roomApplyIf this role sounds of interest please click apply to send your CV, or contact Kirk at Pertemps, Bristol.
