The role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fire Safety Specialist to join our dedicated Building Safety Team. You'll ensure that all Southern Housing's owned and managed properties are maintained to the highest possible fire safety standards, and that all fire safety policy outcomes, statutory and regulatory requirements are met. You'll be a go to person for fire specialist advice, delivering key fire safety activities and being a subject matter expert for fire safety. Some additional key duties involve: • Working with external fire safety partnerships and services, including FRS Primary Authority Partnership, Evacuation Management and Fire Authorities., • Providing advice and support to other staff, both technical and non-technical, on fire safety related matters such as PCFRA, FRA, PEEPS., • Performing audit schemes to ensure fire safety standards and documentation is in place., • Investigating fire incidents, report findings and recommendations., • Taking part in resident engagements advising residents on fire safety in their own home and at resident forums., • Providing training to staff and contractors. You'll have a base at one of our main offices in either Farringdon, Hasting or Sittingbourne, although the role will be field based predominantly covering London. You will also have the option for working in a hybrid way when appropriate and as agreed with your manager. What you'll need: • Experience in Fire and Building Safety within the housing sector or similar industry, • Level 4 Accredited Fire Safety qualification, member of an appropriate Fire Safety Body e.g. IFSM, IFE (Desirable), • Experience of working with external service providers to ensure service requirements are delivered - FRS, PAP & HSE, • Experience of maintaining and analysing stock data within the asset database, • Knowledge and experience of working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to deliver improved services and performance, • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, • You'll be pragmatic with a creative approach to problem solving and can quickly identify and evaluate problems to reach a solution, • A full UK driving licence & access to a vehicle In your supporting statement, it is important that you address how you meet each of the above eight criteria providing real examples.
