About the Role As a Floor and Wall Covering Operative within Nottingham City Councils Housing Services, you will play a vital role in maintaining safe, secure, and comfortable homes for our residents. Your work will include repairing, installing, and renewing wall and floor coverings, mainly, vinyl type flooring and wall-boarding within wet-rooms, ensuring properties remain structurally sound and visually appealing. Youll carry out fault-finding and remedial works, addressing issues such as damp, water penetration, and deterioration, while prioritising customer safety and minimising disruption. This role involves a variety of tasks, from routine maintenance to specialised activities such as safe removal of non-licensable asbestos coatings. Youll help prevent hazards, mitigate environmental risks, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Working with diligence and professionalism, youll contribute to high-quality housing services that reflect best practice and support resident wellbeing. About You The ideal candidate will have: Experience in all aspects of floor and wall finishes including wet-room wall boarding and associated preparation works. Experience in repairs, new build, maintenance, or contract environments, including assessing and inspecting jobs, and updating records. The ability to use the necessary power tools and plant safely, as well as the ability to follow all safety procedures on and off-site. Experience of carrying out investigations and tests to identify faults and the root cause of issues and implement lasting solutions. Ability to use elements of the skills of other general trades to meet the target of first-time fix where it is efficient and appropriate to do so. Ability to demonstrate an organised but flexible approach, and the ability to meet deadlines.
