Location: London or Oxford Working Pattern: Full-time | Monday to Friday | Office-based PQE: NQ - approximately 5 years PQE Practice Area: Residential Property / Conveyancing Salary: Dependent upon experience My client is a progressive, commercially minded and entrepreneurial law firm with a particularly substantial property practice. Following continued expansion, the firm is seeking an ambitious Conveyancing Solicitor to join its property department, with opportunities available across its London and Oxford operations. Applications are welcomed from newly qualified Solicitors through to approximately five years' PQE. The successful individual will join a fast-moving practice where lawyers are given meaningful responsibility for their clients and transactions. This is very much a hands-on fee-earning appointment. Solicitors are expected to personally control their caseload, manage client relationships and progress matters from initial instruction through to successful completion. Alongside their own matters, Solicitors will also have an opportunity to provide guidance and practical assistance to junior fee earners within the department. Responsibilities will include: • Managing an independent caseload of residential property transactions., • Taking matters from initial instruction through to exchange and completion., • Handling freehold and leasehold sales and purchases., • Managing remortgages and transfers of equity., • Reviewing and reporting upon title., • Reviewing contracts, leases, searches and associated property documentation., • Raising and responding to enquiries., • Identifying title defects and other potential legal or transactional issues., • Providing practical and commercially appropriate solutions to issues arising during transactions., • Reviewing mortgage offers., • Ensuring lender requirements are properly satisfied., • Preparing and reviewing contracts, transfers and completion documentation., • Managing exchange and completion processes., • Overseeing relevant post-completion requirements., • Advising clients clearly throughout the lifecycle of their transaction., • Liaising directly with estate agents, lenders, brokers, managing agents and other legal professionals., • Managing key contractual dates and transaction deadlines., • Ensuring compliance with AML, KYC and wider regulatory requirements., • Providing guidance and assistance to Paralegals and more junior fee earners., • Maintaining high standards of client care and technical delivery. The Candidate Applications are sought from qualified Solicitors from NQ level through to approximately five years' PQE. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor who feels constrained by a heavily hierarchical environment and wants greater responsibility earlier in their career. My client operates with a genuine collegiate and open-door culture. It is commonplace for junior Solicitors to work directly alongside considerably more senior lawyers and Partners, providing exposure to both technical matters and the wider commercial operation of the practice. The firm actively seeks to develop individuals who have the ambition and capability to progress towards senior fee-earning, supervisory and ultimately leadership responsibilities. The firm's approach is deliberately entrepreneurial. Solicitors are encouraged to build their own professional profile and relationships rather than viewing business generation solely as the responsibility of Partners. There is an established internal business-development team generating work for the practice, meaning Solicitors are not expected to create their own caseload from scratch. However, lawyers who wish to develop their own network are actively supported in doing so. This can involve: • Meeting property businesses and professional introducers., • Developing relationships with estate agents., • Networking with brokers and lenders., • Building relationships through LinkedIn., • Attending external meetings., • Developing existing client relationships., • Identifying cross-referral and repeat-business opportunities. Eligible fee earners can earn 10% commission on personally generated new business, payable once the relevant legal invoice has been settled. Commercial Coordination | Quotations & Proposals | Bids & Tenders | CRM | Client Relationships Great consultancy work starts with great opportunities. But opportunities need someone to spot them, coordinate them, follow them up and keep them moving. At Ecology by Design, we're an ambitious and growing ecological consultancy working with clients across the UK. We're known for technical excellence, but equally for being innovative, pragmatic and refreshingly easy to work with. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a commercially minded Commercial Coordinator to sit at the heart of our business development process. You'll connect our clients with our technical teams, coordinate quotations and proposals, support bids and tenders, take ownership of our CRM and make sure promising opportunities keep moving. This isn't a cold sales or SDR role. It's a chance to combine commercial thinking, coordination and client relationships while playing a visible part in the growth of an ambitious environmental consultancy. Commercial Coordinator Oxfordshire - Hybrid & Flexible Working £35,000 - £45,000 DOE Plus Benefits Full Time | Permanent Sector: Ecology | Environmental Consultancy | Planning & Development Focus: Quotations | Proposals | Bids & Tenders | CRM | Client Relationships Growth: Business Development | Bids | Marketing | Sales & Commercial Management Pedigree: CIEEM Registered Practice | Certified “Great Place to Work” Clients Include: English Heritage | Knight Frank | Savills | Oxfordshire County Council | Ridge Own the Opportunity. Keep It Moving. Help Us Grow. A major part of your role will be bringing greater structure to how we quote for and win work. When a new enquiry arrives, you'll establish what the client needs, coordinate technical scope, resourcing and pricing information from our ecologists and Project Managers, and prepare professional quotations and proposals, calling on technical expertise where needed. You'll also help coordinate larger bids, tenders and framework opportunities, take ownership of our CRM and proactively follow up quotations with clients. Working closely with our Business Development Manager, you'll research prospective clients, support targeted campaigns and help build relationships across areas including renewable energy, strategic land and major residential and commercial development. Our ecologists will own the technical decisions. Your role is to understand our world well enough to connect the commercial and technical pieces and keep opportunities moving. • Coordinating enquiries, quotations and fee proposals from initial request through to submission and follow-up, • Preparing proposals and gathering technical scope, pricing and resourcing information from the ecology team, • Supporting larger bids, tenders, frameworks, PQQs and supplier registrations, • Taking ownership of the CRM, maintaining accurate client and opportunity information, • Following up outstanding quotations and opportunities by phone and email, • Researching prospective clients, organisations and project opportunities, • Supporting targeted outreach to new, existing and lapsed clients, • Tracking enquiries, conversion rates, quote turnaround times and sources of new work, • Helping improve and automate commercial, quotation and administrative processes, • Supporting networking, conferences and client meetings where appropriate You'll be highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable taking ownership. You'll enjoy dealing with people and be confident picking up the phone, following up an opportunity or chasing the information needed to meet a deadline. Pperhaps you're already working in a commercial, bids, proposals or business development role within ecology, planning or the wider development sector. Or perhaps you're an ecologist or environmental professional who enjoys the sector but has discovered your strengths lie in communication, coordination and the commercial side of consultancy rather than traditional fieldwork. That could make this a particularly interesting next step. • Experience within sales/commercial coordination, bids, proposals, quotations or business development, • Knowledge of ecology, environmental consultancy, planning, development or a closely related sector, • Confidence communicating with clients and senior colleagues, • Experience using a CRM or similar commercial system, • Strong written communication and proposal-writing capability, • Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail, • Confidence working with pricing and commercial information, • A proactive, curious and relationship-focused approach Experience within an ecological consultancy would be particularly valuable, but you don't need to be an ecologist. Relevant experience from planning, architecture, property development, sustainability or the wider environmental sector could equally provide the industry understanding we're looking for. We're not your typical corporate consultancy. Ecology by Design is an independent, people-first business built around trust, flexibility, quality and giving talented people room to grow. You'll be trusted to take responsibility for your work and encouraged to improve the way we do things rather than simply inherit a process. And because this is a varied position, there's genuine scope to shape it around your strengths. As the business grows, your career could develop further into business development, bid management, marketing or sales and commercial management. • £35,000 - £45,000 DOE, • Flexible and hybrid working, • Unlimited annual leave, • Generous pension, • Colleague-nominated bonus scheme, • Extensive in-house and external training, • Relevant professional memberships paid, • Apple computer or Microsoft Surface plus iPhone, • Excellent career development and progression Ultimately, you'll be helping grow a business whose work has a genuine environmental purpose. We aim to drive positive change in how people live with, work in and value the environment, achieve better outcomes for biodiversity and deliver exceptional quality for our clients. If you're commercially minded, brilliantly organised and excited by the opportunity to build your career on the commercial side of ecology and environmental consultancy, we'd love to hear from you.
