Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision / SEMH / SEN Location: Liverpool & WirralHours: Full-timeContract: Long-term placementsPay Rate: £90-£120 per day (dependent on experience) About the Role Teaching Personnel is recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of Alternative Provision, SEMH, and specialist SEN schools throughout Liverpool and the Wirral. These full-time, long-term roles involve supporting pupils who require additional help to access education due to social, emotional, and behavioural needs, or complex learning difficulties. You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with a range of needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, and moderate to complex learning difficulties. Many settings offer smaller class sizes and a personalised approach to learning, meaning your role will be central in helping pupils engage with education, build confidence, and achieve positive academic and personal outcomes. Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs, • Support pupils with SEMH, SEN, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural needs, • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, accessible lessons, • Implement behaviour support strategies and individual learning plans, • Support pupils in developing confidence, independence, and emotional regulation, • Work positively with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to staff, • Support with personal care where required, • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour management, and health & safety These roles suit individuals who can build strong relationships, remain calm under pressure, and effectively support pupils in managing their behaviour and emotions. Essential Requirements • Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or support roles), • Experience within a UK school or education setting, • A patient, flexible, and proactive approach, • Strong communication and teamwork skills, • Ability to adapt to different specialist school environments, • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply), • Right to work in the UK, • GCSE Grade C / Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and MathsDesirable, • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or similar, • Experience supporting pupils in SEMH or Alternative Provision settings, • Team Teach or behaviour management training, • Safeguarding training and a strong understanding of child prote
