Project Manager – Wallingford Town Council Location: Office-based in Wallingford and working onsite Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week with flexible working arrangements Salary: £41,771 per annum Pay Scale: NJC SCP 31 Pension: Generous workplace pension scheme – we invest in your future Wallingford Town Council is looking for a proactive and skilled Project Manager to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will help shape and deliver key projects that support our town’s parks, gardens, allotments, and historic buildings. Specialising in heritage buildings and working with Historic England would be a real advantage. From managing contractors to tracking progress and reporting to Council, your work will directly contribute to the town’s development and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities • Coordinate and manage projects across parks, estates, and historic assets, • Maintain project trackers and ensure milestones are met, • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders, • Oversee procurement, budgets, and contract management, • Ensure compliance with planning, listed building, and health & safety regulations, • Prepare clear and concise reports and proposals for the Town Clerk, ready for inclusion in the Full Council agenda. What We’re Looking For Essential Skills & Experience: • Proven experience in construction project management and working with third-party contractors, • Strong organisational and budget management skills, • Confident communicator with excellent reporting abilities, • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Desirable: • Experience with public spaces, parks, or estates, • Familiarity with local government procedures, • Health & Safety awareness, • Expertise in heritage legislation and policy, including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and Historic England guidance., • Understanding of listed building consent processes, conservation area regulations, and heritage impact assessments., • Ability to collaborate with statutory bodies, architects, and conservation officers to preserve historical integrity while enabling sustainable development., • Credibility when engaging with local stakeholders, especially in towns like Wallingford with rich historical significance.
