Sociology is a valued and growing subject area, enabling students to explore society, culture, identity, and social change through rigorous academic study.\n\nThe Role\n\nWe are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Sociology to join our Social Sciences/Humanities team from September 2026.\n\nThe successful candidate will deliver engaging and academically challenging Sociology lessons, primarily at Key Stage 5, with the possibility of contributing to related Humanities or Social Science subjects depending on experience. You will inspire students to think critically about the world around them and develop strong analytical, evaluative, and research skills.\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative department committed to high academic standards and student success.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTeach Sociology at Key Stage 5 (KS4 Sociology desirable where applicable)\nDeliver engaging and well-structured lessons aligned with examination specifications\nDevelop students’ understanding of sociological theory, research methods, and contemporary social issues\nMonitor, assess, and support student progress effectively\nProvide targeted intervention and feedback to secure excellent outcomes\nContribute to curriculum planning and resource development\nPromote wider reading, discussion, and enrichment opportunities within Social Sciences\n\nThe Ideal Candidate Will Have\n\nQualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent\nStrong subject knowledge in Sociology\nExperience teaching A-Level Sociology (desirable but not essential for exceptional candidates)\nAbility to engage students in critical thinking and debate\nStrong classroom management and communication skills\nCommitment to the ethos and values of a Church of England school\nA reflective, collaborative and ambitious approach to teaching and learning\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nA supportive and ambitious Social Sciences/Humanities team\nExcellent professional development opportunities\nStrong Sixth Form provision with motivated and engaged students\nA values-driven school community\nHigh-quality teaching resources and curriculum support\nOpportunities for career progression and curriculum leadership
