Commissioning Engineer (Heat Pump Commissioning Engineer) Location: We have offices in London, Maidenhead and Cheltenham. However, our projects are Nationwide! The role Were looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Commissioning Engineer to join our growing team. Working closely with another Commissioning Engineer, youll play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance of our low-carbon heat pump systems. Your work will include: Completing the final wiring and setup of heat pump systems, including circulation pumps and associated plant, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety standards. Conducting rigorous quality control checks and reviewing documentation to guarantee system integrity and compliance. Assisting in the commissioning process for heat pumps and systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet intended performance criteria. Collaborating closely with installation teams, electricians, and other stakeholders to coordinate and streamline commissioning. Addressing and resolving technical issues that arise during commissioning, implementing solutions to optimise system performance. Recording all installation/commissioning activities in appropriate certification forms and in SimPRO (our scheduling and QAQC system). Committing to on-the-job and formal training, sharing knowledge with the wider Rendesco team. Supporting the development of future members of the Installations team as you grow in your career. About you Demonstratable professional electrical experience primarily in commercial installations. Comprehensive understanding and experience in electrical wiring, safety standards, and BS7671 regulations. Proficiency in testing to BS2391 and a strong technical understanding of various heating systems and plant, controls, and both three-phase and single-phase power. A basic understanding of the principles of refrigeration systems. Demonstrated experience in the commissioning of complex systems 50kW plus, with a focus on quality control and system optimisation. Including domestic heat pump systems under 50kW. Proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, with a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to tasks. Qualifications and desired skills NVQ level 3 in building services or HVAC sector. Completion of the 18th Edition. Update to wiring regulations would be beneficial but not required. Your work will include: Installation of PIP {pre insulated pipework}: Coordination and laying / connecting pre-insulated pipework in trenches or at ground level, focusing on efficient insulation and long-term reliability for heating and cooling systems in outdoor or underground installations. Installation of Heat Interface Units: The fitting of Heat Interface Units (HIUs) in residential settings, which involves connecting these units to centralized heating systems to provide efficient heating and hot water supply within individual homes. Pipefitting of heating/cooling/hot water distribution systems. Installation of fusion weld pipework Fault finding and fixing any problems that arise Taking ownership to ensure that all inspections and Quality Control check points are completed to industry, Rendesco and customer standards. About you You will bring proven experience from the renewable energy, infrastructure, or construction sectors, ideally with a strong professional background in plumbing and/or pipefitting. With hands-on skills in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting water and heating systems, youll combine technical leadership with the ability to guide installation engineers and deliver innovative, efficient, and high-quality solutions. You have experience producing inspection and testing reports, preferably within renewable energy or district heating projects, and possess a solid understanding of hydraulic systems, including flow and pressure principles. Alongside this, you demonstrate strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations (Part G) and hot water system standards, ensuring safe, compliant, and best-practice installations across all projects. Qualifications and desired skills: Engineering or Plumbing Qualification: NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) ensuring an understanding of industry standards and best practices.
