A premier Am Law 100 law firm is seeking a Privacy and Cybersecurity Litigation Associate Attorney to join its highly regarded New York City, New York office. This position is ideal for attorneys seeking to build specialized expertise in one of the fastest-growing areas of litigation involving data privacy, cybersecurity, consumer protection, and regulatory enforcement matters. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge litigation involving evolving privacy laws, cybersecurity incidents, consumer protection claims, and class action disputes. Associates will gain meaningful responsibility, direct client contact, and exposure to complex matters that frequently shape emerging legal standards in privacy and data security law. This position rarely becomes available at this level and is actively interviewing qualified candidates. Job Responsibilities • Represent clients in privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer protection litigation matters, • Defend complex class action lawsuits involving privacy and data security claims, • Handle litigation in state and federal courts involving privacy-related disputes, • Defend claims arising under statutes such as CCPA, CPRA, TCPA, CIPA, ECPA, CMIA, CEMA, COPPA, BIPA, FCRA, and related privacy regulations, • Participate in government investigations, regulatory inquiries, and enforcement proceedings, • Assist clients with cybersecurity incident response matters and related litigation risks, • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive litigation documents, • Conduct legal research involving emerging privacy and cybersecurity laws, • Develop litigation strategy and risk mitigation approaches for clients, • Participate in depositions, court appearances, mediations, and settlement negotiations, • Collaborate directly with clients, internal stakeholders, and multidisciplinary legal teams, • Manage multiple sophisticated matters in a fast-paced environment Qualifications • 2–4 years of litigation experience, • Experience involving privacy, cybersecurity, consumer protection, or technology-related litigation preferred, • Active admission to and good standing with the California Bar, • Experience handling state and federal court litigation matters, • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Strong organizational and project management capabilities, • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously, • Superior attention to detail and professional judgment, • Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills, • Interest in emerging technology, privacy, and cybersecurity issues Education • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school Certifications • Active admission to the California Bar Required Skills • Privacy litigation and class action defense, • Cybersecurity litigation and incident response support, • Consumer protection litigation, • Regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings, • Motion drafting and legal writing, • State and federal court litigation, • Legal research and statutory analysis, • Technology and data privacy law knowledge, • Client counseling and communication, • Case management and litigation strategy development Culture & Firm Appeal This opportunity is with a highly respected Am Law 100 firm known for combining sophisticated legal work with a collegial and supportive culture.
