The successful candidate will work directly with high-net-worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, business owners, and advisors on complex estate planning and administration matters. Job Responsibilities • Draft sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives, • Develop and implement wealth transfer and asset protection strategies for individuals and families, • Advise clients regarding estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning opportunities, • Prepare and oversee estate and gift tax returns, • Manage probate and estate administration matters from commencement through completion, • Assist fiduciaries with trust administration and estate settlement responsibilities, • Counsel clients regarding charitable planning and business succession strategies, • Conduct legal research involving trusts, estates, tax planning, and fiduciary matters, • Collaborate with clients, financial advisors, accountants, and family offices, • Provide exceptional client service through direct and ongoing client engagement Qualifications • 3–5 years of trusts and estates experience, • Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility to waive into New York, • Experience handling estate planning and estate administration matters, • Knowledge of wealth transfer planning strategies, • Estate and gift tax experience preferred, • Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills, • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, • Ability to manage matters independently while collaborating with team members, • Exceptional client relationship and communication skills, • Commitment to providing outstanding client service Education • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school, • LL.M. in Estate Planning, Taxation, or a related discipline preferred Certifications • Active New York Bar admission or eligibility for admission Required Skills • Estate planning document drafting, • Probate and estate administration, • Trust administration, • Estate and gift tax planning, • Wealth preservation and asset protection strategies, • Legal research and analysis, • Client counseling and relationship management, • Organizational leadership and project management, • Written and verbal communication skills, • Independent matter management Culture & Firm Appeal This opportunity is with a highly regarded law firm that has served individuals, families, fiduciaries, and closely held businesses for decades.
