Job Description Director of Events & Strategic Partnerships In Our Own Voices, Inc. (IOOV) Albany, NY Full-Time | Evenings & Weekends Required About Us In Our Own Voices, Inc. (IOOV) is a Black and trans led nonprofit organization based in Albany, New York. We are dedicated to advancing the health, safety, and liberation of LGBTQ+ people of color across New York’s Capital Region and beyond. Through advocacy, housing access, violence prevention, health equity initiatives, and culturally affirming education, IOOV centers racial, gender, and economic justice in all that we do. Our signature events, including BIPOC Pride, Jazz in July Gala, and the Unity Through Diversity Health Conference, are powerful platforms for visibility, fundraising, and community transformation. We are growing, and we are looking for a strategic leader to grow with us. Position Summary IOOV is seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Events & Strategic Partnerships to lead the strategy, planning, and execution of our signature events while expanding corporate sponsorships and community partnerships. This leadership role is responsible for: • Driving event-based revenue, • Securing and stewarding sponsorships, • Expanding strategic partnerships, • Elevating IOOV’s brand visibility, • Producing culturally powerful and financially successful events This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with executive leadership. Key Responsibilities Event Strategy & Execution • Lead planning and execution of large-scale events with 100 or more attendees, • Develop timelines, budgets, sponsorship targets, and run of show documents, • Oversee contracts, vendors, venues, permits, and on-site production, • Ensure events meet financial benchmarks and measurable impact goals Sponsorship & Partnership Development • Identify, secure, and steward corporate sponsors, • Develop sponsorship packages and partnership proposals, • Maintain strong relationships with business leaders, funders, and community stakeholders, • Ensure sponsor benefit fulfillment and post-event follow-up Brand & Experience Leadership • Oversee event branding, promotional materials, and on-site guest experience, • Ensure alignment with IOOV’s mission and cultural values, • Collaborate with communications and development teams Reporting & Accountability • Track budgets, revenue, sponsorships, attendance, and outcomes, • Conduct post-event evaluations and provide executive-level reports, • Maintain a comprehensive events calendar and planning systems Community Representation • Represent IOOV at community events and civic engagements, • Serve as a visible ambassador for the organization Qualifications • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in event leadership, fundraising, or partnership development, • Proven success managing large-scale events, • Experience securing sponsorships or managing corporate partnerships preferred, • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills, • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed, • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
