Job Description DEPARTMENT: Youth & Recreation-- Burning Tree Country Club Camp JOB TITLE: Camp Counselor REPORTS TO: Assistant Camp Director SCHEDULE: Seasonal, full-time COMPENSATION: Starts at $16.94; based on experience BENEFITS: Golf privileges, meals, and opportunities for professional development and growth within the association. Burning Tree Country Club Camp is seeking energetic, responsible, and values-driven Camp Counselors to join our seasonal team. This role plays a vital part in creating a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment where children feel supported, included, and excited to participate. Camp Counselors serve as mentors, leaders, and role models—demonstrating teamwork, professionalism, and authenticity in every interaction. Through consistent supervision, positive encouragement, and creative programming, counselors help deliver meaningful camp experiences that reflect Burning Tree's traditions and standards. You: • Thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, • Bring energy and creativity to daily programming, • Lead with authenticity and respect, • Provide consistent support and supervision, • Take pride in being a role model The Essentials (Core Responsibilities) • Supervise campers at all times, ensuring safety and positive engagement, • Lead and participate in daily activities, including sports, arts and crafts, group games, and outdoor programs, • Create a fun, inclusive, and respectful environment for all campers, • Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and positive peer relationships, • Support daily schedules and transitions between activities, • Monitor camper behavior, addressing any conflicts or concerns, and promoting positive social interactions., • Communicate effectively with campers, staff, and parents, providing updates and addressing queries as needed., • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to stay informed about camp policies and best practices., • Assist in set-up and clean-up before and after activities, maintaining a neat and organized camp area., • Serve as a positive role model for campers, embodying the values and spirit of Burning Tree Country Club. The Expectations (Performance & Leadership) • Maintain consistent supervision and attentiveness throughout the day, • Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, and adaptability in all activities, • Anticipate camper needs and respond with patience and care, • Address behavioral concerns calmly, fairly, and constructively, • Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and supervisors as needed, • Participate actively in training sessions, meetings, and professional development, • Follow all camp policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols, • Contribute positively to team culture and overall camp success, • Seek feedback and continuously improve performance The Standards (Qualifications & Professional Conduct) • Passion for working with children and supporting their growth and development, • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment, • Previous experience in childcare, youth programs, or recreation preferred but not required, • CPR and First Aid certification encouraged (training may be provided), • Reliable attendance and punctuality, • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and child safety
