A DAY IN THE LIFE: The Director, Information Technology provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the company’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity posture, and enterprise systems. This role ensures 24/7 availability, security, and performance of business and engineering environments, including virtualized, Linux- and Windows-based platforms operating in secured and classified settings. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including CMMC and NIST SP 800-171, ensuring the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), intellectual property, and other sensitive data. WHAT YOU’LL DO • Lead Enterprise IT Strategy and Architecture: Define and execute the vision, architecture, and long-range technology roadmap for infrastructure, enterprise systems, telecommunications, databases, virtualized environments, and engineering development platforms, • Ensure High-Availability IT Operations: Oversee a 24/7 IT environment by establishing team priorities, managing workflow, and leading incident response efforts to ensure reliable hardware, software, and network performance, • Drive Cybersecurity and Compliance: Establish and maintain cybersecurity programs aligned with CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 requirements to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), proprietary data, and systems operating within secured or classified environments, • Manage Information System Security (ISSM) Functions: Direct the security posture of enterprise and classified networks, including audit readiness, SSP maintenance, POA&M tracking, monitoring, and adherence to government security standards, • Oversee IT Risk, Disaster Recovery, and Continuity Planning: Develop and implement enterprise IT risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies, • Develop Policies and Governance: Create, maintain, and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards that support secure, compliant, and efficient operations, • Lead IT Budget and Resource Planning: Develop and manage the IT department’s annual budget and staffing plans to ensure cost-effective investments in hardware, software, and services, • Direct and Develop IT Teams: Provide leadership, mentoring, performance management, hiring support, onboarding, and training while fostering a high-performing, service-oriented IT organization, • Manage Vendors and Managed Service Providers: Negotiate IT-related contracts, oversee MSP performance, and manage vendor relationships to ensure service quality and value, • Guide IT Project Portfolio Execution: Lead feasibility studies, infrastructure improvements, and enterprise technology initiatives while communicating cost, value, and risk to executive leadership, • Support Engineering Development Environments: Ensure availability and performance of engineering platforms, including specialized software tools, license servers, and Linux- and Windows-based compute resources, • Enterprise IT Strategy and Architecture: Designing and managing complex enterprise IT environments that include infrastructure, telecommunications, engineering systems, and virtual platforms, • High-Availability IT Operations: Running mission-critical, 24/7 IT environments with strong incident management, outage reduction, and service delivery performance, • Cybersecurity and Compliance: Applying CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and federal cybersecurity frameworks to protect sensitive, proprietary, and classified information, • Directing and Developing IT Teams: Leading technical staff, managing performance, mentoring team members, and building organizational capability, • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline (advanced certifications preferred), • 10 or more years of experience in IT leadership roles, • Experience operating IT systems within secured and/or classified environments, • Strong knowledge of IT requirements for U.S. Government contracts (CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, etc.), • Experience supporting environments that process, store, or transmit Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), • Experience with enterprise IT systems design, infrastructure, and implementation, • Demonstrated experience managing virtualized infrastructure, • Working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems, • Proven experience managing IT projects, MSPs, and external vendors, • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities, • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, • 401(k) with 3% company match (automatic enrollment), • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, HSA & life insurance, • 10 paid holidays + 120 hours PTO (starting in year one), • Flexible Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off—whether you use it to recharge, work on a passion project, or spend time with family, the choice is yours., • Continuous Learning & Development: We’re serious about professional development.
