Job DescriptionSalary: About Fs Feminista Fs Feminista is an intersectional feminist organization centered around the sexual and reproductive rights and needs of women, girls, and gender-diverse people. Led and governed by the Global South, Fs Feminista works as an alliance of organizations in 35 countries worldwide to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ). Fs Feminista is both the connective tissue that links these diverse partners in an alliance and an active participant in the broader ecosystem of actors working on SRHRJ. We connect partners across movements and borders, amplify innovative partner-led solutions, and catalyze political will and resources for an intersectional feminist agenda on SRHRJ. Together with our partners, we provide access to health care and services including contraception, abortion, and care for survivors of gender-based violence engage young people with comprehensive sexuality education, and advocate globally for gender and reproductive justice. Position Summary The Senior Global Advocacy Officer (SGAO) plays a strategic leadership role within Fs Feministas Global Advocacy for Change team, with primary responsibility for advancing the organizations feminist, decolonial, and intersectional advocacy agenda in global and multilateral spaces, particularly within the United Nations system. Anchored in Fs Feministas strategic plan, the SGAO ensures that the priorities, analyses, and demands of feminist movements, especially those from the Global South, shape global policymaking on sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ), gender equality, health equity, and economic justice. Reporting to Chief Global Advocacy Officer, the role combines high-level representation, political analysis, coalition engagement, and internal coordination, and is responsible for supervising advocacy staff and consultants supporting multilateral engagement. Representation, Relationship Building, and Influence Provide strategic leadership in defining and implementing Fs Feministas UN and multilateral advocacy strategy, ensuring coherence with organizational priorities and political analysis. Represent Fs Feminista in key UN processes and intergovernmental forums, including CSW, CPD, HLPF, UNGA, and relevant Human Rights Council mechanisms, amplifying movement-led priorities on SRHRJ and gender justice. Lead the design, coordination, and delivery of UN side events, briefings, and high-level engagements, elevating the visibility and leadership of Fs Feminista Alliance members and partners. Build, sustain, and strategically expand relationships with Member States, with priorities on countries in the global south, engaging both technical and political focal points (PRs, DPRs, and mission staff) to advance feminist policy outcomes. Support institutional engagement with UN agencies (e.g., UNFPA, UN Women, UNICEF, WHO) and other multilateral bodies, in coordination with the Chief Global Advocacy Officer. Ensure strategic and compliant use of Fs Feministas UN ECOSOC accreditation. Keep abreast of U.S. domestic and foreign policy trends, and positions relevant to global SRHRJ, gender equality, and health. Engage selectively with U.S. policy actors and civil society partners to interpret and contextualize U.S. policy developments for global and multilateral advocacy. Ensure that analysis of U.S. policies informs Fs Feministas strategic support and education of Alliance members and partners, particularly in the Global South. Coalition Building and Movement Strengthening Represent Fs Feminista in key feminist and civil society coordination mechanisms, including the Womens Rights Caucus, ISRRC, Womens Major Group, and other relevant multilateral advocacy platforms. Strengthen alliances with feminist organizations and networks engaged in UN advocacy in New York and Geneva, promoting intersectional, movement-led strategies. Participate in selected U.S.-based foreign policy coalitions and coordination spaces, contributing global feminist and Global Southcentered perspectives. Identify and cultivate strategic relationships with emerging and established feminist actors across regions to strengthen collective influence in global policy spaces. Support coordinated advocacy approaches that reflect diverse political contexts and lived realities, centering Global South leadership. Strategic Accompaniment and Capacity Strengthening Accompany and support Alliance members and partners, particularly Global Southbased organizations, to navigate UN processes and multilateral advocacy spaces. Working with focal points for the regions, support capacity-building efforts that strengthen partners advocacy skills, political analysis, and engagement strategies at the global level. Foster SouthSouth and cross-regional collaboration within the Fs Feminista Alliance to advance shared multilateral advocacy priorities. Facilitate shared learning, reflection, and strategic alignment among partners engaged in multilateral advocacy through the capacity sharing centers in collaboration with the focal points. Thought Leadership, Political Analysis, and Knowledge Production Work closely with regional focal points to connect outcomes and perspectives from regional and national consultations to Fs Feministas global advocacy positions, ensuring strategies are grounded in lived realities, movement priorities, and Global South leadership. Collaborate closely with the Communications team to design and implement global advocacy campaigns that advance Fs Feministas multilateral advocacy priorities, ensuring political coherence, strategic timing, and alignment with UN processes. Lead and contribute to political and policy analysis related to global SRHRJ, gender equality, health, and economic justice, grounded in feminist and decolonial frameworks. Track, document, and analyze the global impact of U.S. domestic and foreign policies on SRHR, working closely with internal policy research focal points. Produce and disseminate knowledge products (briefs, analyses, talking points, learning notes) that support Alliance members and partners, particularly those in the Global South, in their advocacy and engagement. Strengthen Fs Feministas thought leadership at the intersections of economic justice, health, and SRHR. Supervision and Coordination Supervise and provide strategic guidance to one Advocacy Officer and manage relevant consultants, ensuring effective delivery of multilateral advocacy priorities. Coordinate advocacy planning and workflows to ensure clarity of roles, political alignment, and effective use of resources across the global multilateral advocacy portfolio. Support a collaborative and feminist team culture grounded in accountability, learning, and care. Organizational Functions and Management In collaboration with the Chief Global Advocacy Officer and Development team, support the identification and cultivation of funding opportunities for global and multilateral advocacy. Contribute to the development of proposals, donor reports, and concept notes that articulate advocacy impact, learning, and strategic direction. Integrate monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) into advocacy planning and implementation, in coordination with the Business Intelligence, Evaluation, and Research unit. Work in partnership with the Communications team to increase the visibility and influence of Fs Feministas global advocacy, including through strategic messaging, media engagement, digital content, and public-facing thought leadership linked to key global policy moments. Contribute to planning, budgeting, and operational management of the Global Advocacy for Change unit. Education and Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree or equivalent in International Affairs, Public policy, Social Science, Law, Public Health, Human Rights, or other relevant disciplines preferred. Seven (7) years of experience in diplomacy and/or public policy analysis. Experience working in and/or with UN Permanent Missions in New York, and knowledge regarding technical issues and UN negotiation tactics and strategies related to human rights, gender equality, and SRHR. Experience building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders and the ability to leverage existing trusted relationships with experts at diplomatic missions to the UN. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent writing and communications skills and fluent English essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other languages (notably French or Portuguese) is desirable. Demonstrated track record of keen interest in and understanding of UN processes. Outstanding oral and written communication skills and ability to write policy documents and analysis for a general audience. Demonstrated and strong skills in policy analysis and independent thinking. Demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities, manage competing demands, and maintain a positive attitude. Broad working knowledge of and commitment to womens rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights, social justice, HIV and AIDS, non-discrimination, and human rights. Ability to speak and write about intersectional and decolonial feminisms, global policies, and sexual and reproductive justice for a general audience. Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and challenging other forms of oppression, including to a process of self-reflection and transformation around implicit bias. Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and discretion, and the ability to network and communicate with stakeholders from different backgrounds, cultures, and contexts. Position Location: This position requires a physical presence in NYC for in-person meetings, conferences, and other interactions at and near the UN Headquarters. Compensation: Fs Feminista offers generous compensation consistent with competitive salaries and a benefits package that includes private health coverage, life insurance, retirement benefits, paid sick, vacation leave and parental leave, holidays, and flexible working arrangements. The annual salary is USD 90,906.83.
