Job Description BACKGROUND The Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, Inc. (ADID) is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation formed in 1995 by Central Atlanta Progress to deliver state-legislated, city-approved Community Improvement District services to Downtown Atlanta. ADID’s mission is to keep the 220 blocks and 1.7 square miles of Downtown Atlanta clean, safe, hospitable, and vibrant. ADID’s field operations programs are focused on public safety, public space cleaning and maintenance, and supportive services outreach to unsheltered residents. ADID's Public Space Team is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the streets of Downtown Atlanta. Our services include, but are not limited to, reporting and tracking lights out and issues within the public right of way, graffiti removal, trash clean up, daily vacuuming, and pressure washing. Additionally, this team provides maintenance services and repairs to trash cans, flower baskets, bike racks, and any other minor issues that may arise. Our Public Space Team takes great pride in providing support to the City of Atlanta to keep the downtown area clean, making it the best place to live, work, and play. POSITION OVERVIEW Under the direction of the Public Space Cleaning Operations Manager the Public Space Cleaning Technician II will perform tasks that support a clean, orderly, and well-maintained Downtown Atlanta. ADID endeavors to care for and maintain the “curb appeal” of the public spaces – streets, sidewalks, parks, and plazas – within the belief that a tidy and clean environment contributes towards a safe environment and the overall quality of life of the community. This role will directly perform cleaning tasks to maintain a clean and vibrant Downtown. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ADID is seeking qualified and motivated candidates to perform the following duties and responsibilities as a Public Space Cleaning Technician II: • Assess, and determine necessary cleaning and litter removal identified in response to third-party reports, ADID team reports, and direct observation., • Perform basic cleaning on-location within public space using ATLV and MadVac street vacuums, UTV’s, and walking a large area if needed to complete identified work tasks., • Empty trashcans and receptacles in the district and ensure surrounding areas are clean., • Data management – this will consist of managing workflow to provide timely responses to reported concerns including performing maintaining records, daily activity logs, and other reports as directed, including entering information into digital web-based databases., • Observe signs of disorder and report to ADID dispatch for proper tracking., • Assist with graffiti removal., • Anticipated tasks and projects included but not limited to: o Removing debris from all sidewalk beds and planters within the ADID o Clean and remove all trash and debris from on and off ramps within the district. o Special clean ups for events held in ADID. • Project a professional presence in support of the ADID team’s goals to assure the public that their safety within the district is of paramount importance., • Comply with all OSHA regulations and health, safety, and environmental guidelines., • Other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS • Possess a valid Driver's License, • Stable work history and good employment references, including a minimum of three (3) year of related experience., • Flexibility - position could require working different shifts when needed, including evening and weekends., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically the ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions., • Strong time management skills including the ability to multitask, stay organized and meet deadlines., • Attention to detail., • Professional presentation and attitude., • A stable work history and good employment references, including a minimum of two (2) years of related experience., • High School Diploma or GED certificate PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKS ENVIRONMENT This job requires the employee to fulfill certain physical tasks to perform their essential job functions successfully. The employee will need to: • Work outdoors during periods of extreme temperatures., • Regularly communicate through talking and hearing., • Frequently standing, walking, sitting, and reaching with their hands and arms., • Lift and move objects weighing up to 60 pounds., • Have good close and distance vision, along with the ability to adjust focus., • Work in an environment with moderate noise levels. POSITION CLASSIFICATION (this is not a remote position) This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site in-person, exempt position.
