Job Description The FFT Therapist provides FFT (Functional Family Therapy) virtually, to a maximum of 10 voluntarily participating families at a time who reside in NYC. The target population of young adults (16-25 years old), who are referred to us after an arrest. This is a pilot program to offer FFT to families and young people who might otherwise find themselves incarcerated without this alternative. FFT is an evidence-based model which is home-based, intensive, family therapy. The FFT Therapist participates in all FFT training and consultation activities, and program reviews. In addition to providing Family Therapy, the FFT Therapist will collaborate with other service providers, including but not limited to the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) and New York City Criminal Justice Agency (CJA). This will include coordinating closely with the Manhattan Felony Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Court to identify and assess potential participants. The ATI Court, which is led by Administrative Judge Ellen Biben, seeks to forge a new response to individuals charged with felonies by linking them to community-based social services. The Court is the first of its kind, providing an innovative model for other jurisdictions seeking to develop and implement meaningful post-conviction sentencing options for individuals facing felony charges. Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Senior Social Worker, Jail Diversion will lead a team that conducts independent clinical assessments and drafts treatment recommendations for defendants being held in pretrial detention. The Senior Social Worker will supervise a team of social workers and counselors and oversee the referral, assessment, and treatment planning process—ensuring adherence to a strict timeline and that the process is completed as quickly as possible. They will also regularly conduct assessments and prepare treatment plans, including for more complex and demanding cases. Additionally, in coordination with the Clinical Director, the Senior Social Worker will design and refine workflows for the team, and oversee data entry. The goal is to provide information that will enable defense attorneys, prosecutors, and judges to resolve cases as quickly as possible, significantly reducing the time people spend in pretrial detention. An essential and dynamic feature of the Senior Social Worker’s role will be close collaboration with key external stakeholders. They will work regularly with New York City’s public defense organizations and other defense attorneys, prosecutors from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor, staff at the Department of Correction and Correctional Health Services, the judge and court staff from New York County Supreme Court who oversee the Felony ATI Court, and an array of community-based alternative to incarceration and community-based providers. Court-based clinical work is an exciting, unique and demanding area of practice, and the Social Worker role involves navigating and constructively engaging with differing and, at times, competing stakeholder perspectives. POSITION SUMMARY: The Information and Referral (I&R) Specialist conducts outreach to drug using populations to engage persons in services, provides individual education to reduce health-related harm from injection and other drug use, conducts sterile syringe exchange, trains on opioid overdose reversal, and delivers HIV and hepatitis C (HCV) counseling and testing as well as delivers syringes to clients directly. The I&R Specialist works in the community, on CHASI’s mobile health units, and in office-based settings to reach long-term and newer substance users, to partner with them as they set their own goals for improving their health and well-being, and to help them navigate service systems to achieve those goals. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conduct street outreach and community presentations to engage and inform drug using individuals about harm reduction interventions., • Conduct harm reduction-oriented individual and group education encounters with drug users to reduce the transmission of blood-borne diseases, other infections, and drug overdose., • Enroll individuals in State-authorized syringe exchange program and provide exchanges that promote the consistent use of sterile syringes and safe collection of used syringes., • Distribute Naloxone kits to reverse opioid overdose and provide group and individual trainings on their correct use of Naloxone., • Conduct HIV and HCV counseling, testing, partner notification and linkage services, in accordance with standards set by NYS Department of Health/AIDS Institute and CHASI. The estimator works closely with preconstruction, engineering, and operations teams to support successful project pursuit and execution.
