Job Description Georgia Proud Provisions supplies farmers markets and local restaurants with Georgia grown fruits from farms that do not have the capacity or availability to sell what they grow. Only the highest quality fruits are distributed by GPP. This will be our 18th year in farmers markets and delivering to local restaurants. We attend markets year around. Pearson peaches are available May-August. Strawberry harvest is now into May, blueberries April - June, apples August - December, citrus November - February. Pearson pecans are available all year. SCHEDULE • Starts March 4th - training lasts 4 days (paid), • Position is part time until May, • Full time begins in May, • Also hiring a part-time second driver late May/June, • August: continues with apples - job expands into farm runs in addition to deliveries, • Less deliveries, but farm trips added. This is late August to February. JOB SUMMARY The Georgia Proud Provisions delivery driver is the face of partnered farms to the public and our customers, and acts as a representative for all companies in everything he/she does. Everyday attendance is a critical component in fulfilling this fast-paced position. Driver will perform the day-to-day route operations by serving clients with regard to email management, routing, sorting and transporting produce to local restaurants. Produce delivery to restaurants and some markets, warehouse work including fruit management, email management (incoming orders). Please note: • This position is seasonal - full time May to mid-August, part time late August to early February - short break in February, then part time March to May, • Nonsmoking environment - it’s not welcome around the product, in vehicles or at warehouse MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Current, valid Georgia driver’s license, • Clean driving record, no exceptions. No DUI’s and no major moving violations or accidents within the past 60 months. Driving record will be pulled and if affects commercial insurance rate the hiring process will end, • Please do not apply if you are not available to continue a working relationship. In other words, please do not apply if considering moving from GA or work elsewhere this year, • Must be familiar Atlanta area - routes are determined by driver, • Own a phone that does not limit mapping, texting and other functions necessary to make deliveries, • Forklift experience is a plus but not required, • Familiarity with Atlanta area restaurants is a plus, • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability and initiative in prior work experience. What you bring to the company: • Organized, • Legible, clear handwriting, • Possess basic phone skills including mapping, • Excellent time management, • Ability to create efficient delivery routes around ATL, • Ability to follow through on deliverables and meet last minute objectives, • A love of quality, local food, • How to navigate in a restaurant kitchen, • Ability to interact with customers in a professional manner, • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, • Available to respond to texts throughout the workday, • Work under pressure and maintain flexibility, • Willingness to accommodate last minute diversions, • A desire to help the company grow, • Knowing it's $12, not 12$, • Nonsmoking - it’s not welcome around the product, in vehicles or at warehouse PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and arms, talk and hear, • Ability to jump up into a box truck (We use a small box truck August to May), • Use of pallet jack and hand trucks, • Regularly lifts items up to 30 pounds, • Vehicle loading of ~1000lbs total - boxes are 25 lbs.+, • Will spend the majority of time in vehicle but also in restaurant kitchens, outdoors and in a cooler (exposed to varying temperatures). COMPENSATION Performance based raises are considered each month during peach season. Includes “what has to get done to get fruit out” - warehouse/market load help/market drops, etc. Pay is a flat rate per week = incentive to complete deliveries as soon as possible, before restaurant service starts. Part time is hourly at first at $18/hour when training then raised to $20/hr until busy time starts in May. When full-time begins, $600 per week with pay bumps if: no missed deliveries, labeling is understood and completed, fruit condition is comprehended, paperwork is filed, emails are kept up with, etc. Pay is a weekly direct deposit.
