Job DescriptionCompany Description CareFlite is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ambulance service sponsored by Baylor Scott & White Health, JPS Health Network, Methodist Health System, Parkland, and Texas Health Resources. CareFlite provides medical transport by helicopter, airplane, and ground ambulance, and non-medical transport via wheelchair van. Job Description Location: North Central Texas Position Type: Full-time, non-exempt Position Summary The Air Transport Nurse provides advanced critical care to critically ill or injured patients during air, ground, and ECMO transport operations. This role includes assessing patient conditions, performing advanced medical interventions within CareFlite’s scope of practice, and ensuring safe, efficient, and timely transport. The Air Transport Nurse works collaboratively with paramedics, pilots, dispatch, and healthcare professionals to deliver compassionate, patient-focused care while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards. Accepts responsibility for actions, decisions, and patient outcomes, ensuring accurate documentation., • Patient Advocacy and Compassion: Provides patient-centered care that reflects empathy, respect, and dignity, balancing clinical urgency with sensitivity., • Professional Development: Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning, maintaining all required credentials, and participating in education and quality improvement initiatives.Qualifications Working Conditions • Hours: Full-time, crews are assigned a 24 on 72 off work schedule to include holidays and weekends to encompass staffing 365 days per year., • Overtime: May be required based on mission demand or emergencies. All overtime must be pre-approved unless related to emergent patient transport., • Work Environment: Aircraft, ground ambulances, ECMO vehicles, hospitals, and outdoor settings. Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, confined spaces, and operational hazards. PPE required., • Travel: Frequent travel within the assigned service area; occasional overnight stays for patient transports, training, or inter-facility transfers., • Ability to perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting/carrying patients/equipment up to 100 lbs. with assistance., • Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical assessment, and audiology test., • Maximum allowable weight: 230 lbs in full flight gear., • Exposure to loud noise, vibration, exhaust, rotating blades, and bodily fluids., • Minimum 18 years of age, • High school diploma or equivalent (associate/bachelor’s in nursing preferred), • Current Texas RN licensure, • Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (preferred upon hire; all required prior to air orientation completion), • TPATC or ATLS audit preferred upon hire; required prior to air orientation completion, • Minimum 3 years of experience in critical care, emergency, or high-acuity nursing environment, • ECMO experience preferred Additional Information How to Apply : Interested applicants should submit their resume, application, and credentials via our Careers page or application portal ().
