Job Description Electro-Mechanical Barrier Systems Technician (High-Security ACP Barriers, Delta Wedges & Booth Controls) Location: DC / Maryland / Virginia / Pennsylvania / New York Employment Type: Full-Time Clearance/Access: Ability to obtain base access; background check required Travel: Travel is a must — regular travel throughout DC, MD, VA, PA, and NY Industry: Federal Facilities / Security Infrastructure / O&M Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Barrier Systems Technician to support, troubleshoot, and repair high-security Access Control Point (ACP) equipment including wedge barriers, pop-up barriers, sliding gates, bollards, guard booths, and all related control panels. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Delta Scientific, B&B ARMR, or similar crash-rated barrier systems used in federal and high-security environments. This role requires deep knowledge of electrical control systems, hydraulic assemblies, PLC/relay logic, sensor packages, and access control device integration. The technician must be capable of working independently in the field, responding to urgent service requests, performing routine maintenance, and delivering high-quality repairs. This position requires extensive travel across DC, MD, VA, PA, and NY for emergency service calls, scheduled PMs, and project support. Key Responsibilities Barrier & ACP Equipment Support • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair:, • Delta Scientific wedge barriers, bollards, barricades, • ACP booth control systems and safety interlocks, • Crash-rated wedge and pop-up barriers, • Sliding and swinging gate actuators, • Hydraulic power units (HPUs), pumps, cylinders, valves, • Diagnose issues involving:, • Limit switches, relays, and proximity sensors, • Loop detectors, photo-eye sensors, and safety devices, • Hydraulic leaks, pressure problems, actuator failures, • Open and troubleshoot 24V / 120V control panels efficiently and safely., • Diagnose faults involving:, • PLCs, relay logic, I/O modules, • Power supplies, fusing, surge suppression, • Timer relays, contactors, and transformers, • Access control integration (card readers, crash bars, intercoms), • Read and interpret:, • Electrical schematics, • Wiring diagrams, • Hydraulic circuit schematics, • Perform scheduled PM on wedge barriers, bollards, booth controls, and HPUs., • Appropriately lubricate, adjust, and test all moving and hydraulic components., • Create clear service reports, document part usage, and note long-term recommendations., • 3+ years experience in electro-mechanical, controls, or barrier system troubleshooting., • Strong proficiency in diagnosing hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, and cylinders., • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics., • Capable of working outdoors in secure and high-traffic ACP environments., • Skilled in using diagnostic tools including multimeters and pressure gauges., • Must be able to travel frequently — travel is mandatory across DC, MD, VA, PA, NY., • Experience with Delta Scientific, B&B ARMR, Nasatka, or other crash-rated barrier systems., • Familiarity with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens LOGO, IDEC, or similar)., • Experience with government, DoD, or federal secure-site work., • Competitive compensation based on experience, • Travel reimbursement & per diem, • Training on advanced barrier and control systems, • Advancement opportunities in a high-demand specialty, • Work supporting mission-critical federal security operations
