Title: Counselor - PT - Talent Search Department: TRiO Reports To: Director TRIO Programs Position Type: Staff Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Trio Director, the Talent Search Counselor provides academic, career, and educational counseling, as well as assistance with completing the college admissions and financial aid process. The counselor also provides motivational support and academic counseling and acts as an advocate for program participants. The Talent Search Counselor is responsible for the effective implementation and achievement of all goals, objectives, and standards associated with the Talent Search Program as outlined by the US Department of Education. The Talent Search Program provides academic instruction, mentoring, tutorials, and counseling services to students in grades six through twelve. These services take place on the NJIT Campus and at assigned target schools. During the academic year, there are 20 to 26 sessions on Saturdays that run from 8:30 am until 2:30 pm. There is also an afterschool program that runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm as well as evening orientations and activities that are typically scheduled from 6 pm until 8:00 pm. Saturday and off-hour work is required. The Talent Search Counselor will report to the Project Director; however, they will work very closely with high school and middle school teachers and counselors, and with the appropriate campus and community agency personnel. Essential Functions: • Screen middle and high school students, as well as former high school and college students, that have not completed their education beyond the secondary and post-secondary levels, to determine program eligibility., • Collect analyze and maintain student data, including report cards, test scores, and Personal Educational Plans to improve service delivery to students and increase student outcomes., • Develop and maintain a file on each eligible participant for use in education and career planning., • Supervise and conduct group counseling, individual counseling, and personal development activities., • Organize and conduct career workshops, seminars, and other educational activities. The Columbia Nano Initiative (CNI) seeks an outstanding candidate to fill one opening for the position of Senior Director of the CNI Labs at the rank of Research Scientist. Reporting to the Scientific Director of the Columbia Nano Initiative (CNI), the Research Scientist will actively participate in multidisciplinary CNI research programs in close collaboration with CNI-affiliated faculty and researchers. The Director of CNI Shared Laboratory Facilities, which include the cleanroom, electron microscopy facilities, the shared materials characterization facilities, and any newly developed facilities as needed will assist principal investigators (PIs) in their research and utilization of shared facilities and equipment, serving as a key strategic partner and subject-matter expert in equipment operation, configuration, capabilities, and maintenance to ensure high-quality research outcomes. The Research Scientist will provide guidance and expertise in various aspects of laboratories operation. Additionally, they will be responsible for the operational and financial management of the laboratories, collaborating closely with the Shared Facilities Committee and the CNI Executive Committee to ensure safe and effective operations, maintain necessary IT systems, and comply with all university and government regulations.
