Job Description: The Area Engineer is responsible for maintaining uninterrupted hotel operations while ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction. This includes overseeing the safety, compliance, and reliability of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems throughout the property. The position requires consistent documentation and reporting to both hotel leadership and corporate management, ensuring transparency and accountability. Additionally, the individual trains, mentors, and supports on-site engineering staff when applicable, fostering a strong and capable team. A key focus of the role is to deliver cost-effective, energy-efficient, and preventive maintenance solutions that enhance operational efficiency and long-term asset performance. Necessary Skills: • Oversee the PM program for the entire Hotel, • Check in with the front desk to see what rooms are available to PM, • The AE will use Quore as it’s tool to document all PM’s, • Communicate with General Managers and Corporate Director of Facilities with any issues, • Ensure compliance with local codes, OSHA, fire safety, and brand standards, • Execute daily maintenance and repair activities through Quore, • Monitor and log building systems (HVAC, boilers, chillers, elevators, etc.), • Respond promptly to Emergency issues, • Conduct preventive maintenance per brand guidelines, • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and critical spare parts, • Support the Corporate Director of Engineering, • Provide technical guidance and remote troubleshooting, • Suggest capital expense requests and vendor contracts when needed, • Conduct property walk-through to assess condition of guest rooms, public areas and mechanical spaces, • Daily Operations, • Preventative Maintenance (PM), • Vendor & Contractor Management, • Safety & Compliance, • Reporting, • Emergency Procedures, • Departure & Transition, • Documentation, • Review and prioritize maintenance requests in the work order system. (Quore, • Ensure guest-impacting issues are resolved same-day whenever possible, • Perform daily rounds of mechanical systems and log readings, • Check life safety systems (fire panel, sprinklers, extinguishers, emergency lights), • Follow the brand-standard PM schedule, • Document all PM tasks in the CMMS. (Quore), • Notify leadership of critical PM deficiencies, • Track contractor invoices and submit to finance/GM for approval, • Enforce use of PPE and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures, • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADA, and local building codes, • Maintain up-to-date MSDS/SDS for all chemicals, • Conduct weekly safety checks and report hazards immediately, • Submit a weekly 515 report to the Corporate Director of Engineering, • Provide weekly status updates to the GM, • Respond immediately to emergencies (fire alarms, floods, outages, elevator entrapments), • Follow the hotel’s Emergency Response Plan, • Notify GM and corporate engineering immediately of major incidents, • Document response actions and corrective measures taken, • Provide comprehensive handover to permanent or incoming engineer, • Submit a final written report with system condition, pending work orders, and vendor contacts, • Ensure tools, keys, and access cards are returned, • Supervise daily activities of the preventative maintenance team, • Assign rooms and tasks to team members and monitor productivity, • Ensure daily production goals are met, • Coordinate travel schedules, lodging, and logistics for the team, • Serve as the primary point of contact between property leadership and the traveling team, • Oversee company vehicle usage, including condition, cleanliness, and reporting of maintenance issues, • Manage company-issued purchasing methods (if applicable) and track expenses, • Review and ensure accuracy of all maintenance reporting and documentation, • Provide coaching, guidance, and support to team members, • Submit required daily and weekly reports Travel Requirements: • Frequent regional travel required • Overnight stays may be required based on project location • Travel time and assignments will be coordinated in advance Qualifications: • 5 years minimum of maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality or facilities maintenance overseeing multiple properties at once, • Expertise knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair work • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds • Ability to work in various environments, including guest rooms and mechanical spaces Work Schedule: • Full-time, hourly (non-exempt) position • Standard workday is 8 hours, including travel between job sites • Schedule may vary based on property needs • Travel-related expenses covered per company policy Work Environment: This role operates across multiple hotel properties and requires flexibility, adaptability, and a team-oriented mindset. The Area Engineer will interact with property leadership, housekeeping, and other departments to ensure rooms are guest-ready and compliant with company standards.
