The Oncology Registered Nurse Navigator (ONN) is a RN who serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, providing clinical guidance, education, and support to oncology patients and their families within the ambulatory care setting. The Oncology RN will work with the Clinical Operations, Nursing staff and Physicians to ensure clinical goals are met through determination of work load priorities to meet the clinic's administrative, operational and support requirements. The ONN facilitates timely access to care, coordinates appointments and diagnostic services, and ensures clear communication between providers, patients, and caregivers. The ONN helps patients overcome the challenges of a complex medical system as it relates to timely oncology care, treatment adherence, patient outcomes, and serving as an advocate, educator, and a resource from diagnosis through survivorship.
