Job Description About the Role We’re seeking a detail-driven Tax Accountant with 2–4 years of experience to join our finance team in the fast-paced world of logistics and transportation. This role focuses on indirect tax compliance—including sales/use tax, fuel tax, and other transaction-based taxes critical to fleet operations and supply chain services. You’ll play a key role in ensuring tax accuracy across state lines, international borders, and U.S. territories like Puerto Rico. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and file indirect tax returns (sales/use tax, fuel tax, VAT/GST) across multiple jurisdictions, • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and territorial tax regulations affecting transportation and logistics operations, • Participate in monthly close process with compilation of tax related journal entries, • Reconcile tax accounts and analyze transactional data from freight, warehousing, and fleet systems, • Respond to tax audits and inquiries from regulatory agencies, • Monitor changes in indirect tax legislation and assess impact on logistics and maritime operations, • Support tax planning and process improvements to reduce risk and increase efficiency, • Collaborate with operations, procurement, and legal teams to ensure tax compliance across contracts and vendor relationships, • Maintain documentation and internal controls for audit readiness, • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, • 2–4 years of experience in indirect tax, preferably within logistics, transportation, or supply chain sectors, • Strong understanding of multi-state tax regulations and fuel tax reporting, • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and transportation management systems preferred, • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, • CPA or equivalent certification (or working toward it), • Experience in a multinational logistics company or public accounting firm with transportation clients, • Familiarity with tax automation tools and data analytics, • Experience with Puerto Rico tax compliance and reporting requirements, • Experience with compiling and filing Withholding tax, • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses, • Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, retirement plans), • Opportunities for professional development and certification support, • A collaborative and inclusive work culture Other duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. The salary range is $52, 900-92,600 with an anticipated salary of $85,000-88,000. Pay will be based on several factors including the candidate’s education, work experience, work location and specific job duties.
