Job DescriptionDescription: Join Our Team! Syracuse Academy of Science Middle School, part of the Science Academies of New York (SANY) Charter Schools, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to support the academic, emotional, and social development of students in grades 5-7. At SAS Middle School, we believe that students thrive when supported holistically. Our Counselors play a vital role in building strong relationships with students, families, and the community to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed in school and beyond. What You’ll Do As a School Counselor, you will: • Provide developmentally appropriate individual and group counseling for students with emotional, behavioral, or social challenges., • Conduct age-appropriate observations and assessments to identify student and family needs and implement effective interventions., • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and outside agencies to support students' well-being and readiness to learn., • Respond to crises and provide ongoing support for students and families., • Promote a positive school climate by supporting social-emotional learning initiatives appropriate for early elementary students., • Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community resources to ensure holistic support., • Actively engage with families to strengthen the home-school connection and provide resources, education, and support.
