The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care during the immediate post-operative recovery phase, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment where critical thinking, technical proficiency, and empathetic communication are essential. The Registered Nurse - PACU will collaborate closely with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth patient transitions from anesthesia to recovery. Duties • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments upon arrival in the PACU, including vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness., • Monitor patients continuously for signs of pain, bleeding, respiratory distress, or other complications related to anesthesia or surgery., • Administer medications and interventions as prescribed, including IV infusions and pain management protocols., • Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures such as suturing or catheter care to prevent infections., • Manage airway equipment and ventilators; perform basic life support (BLS) and advanced airway management when necessary., • Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner., • Educate patients and their families regarding post-operative care instructions and recovery expectations., • Coordinate discharge planning by assessing readiness for transfer to inpatient units, rehabilitation facilities, or home care settings., • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with hospital standards including NCQA standards and HIPAA regulations., • Assist in emergency situations within the PACU by applying trauma medicine principles and trauma center protocols., • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection control, patient safety, and pain management., • Maintain proficiency with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures performed, and laboratory specimen collection/processing., • Proven experience working as a registered nurse in a PACU setting within a hospital environment; Level I or Level II trauma center experience preferred., • Demonstrated proficiency in critical care practices including ICU experience, acute care procedures, and emergency medicine protocols., • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is essential for accurate documentation., • Experience administering injections, IV insertion, catheterization, tube feeding management, and ventilator support is required., • Knowledge of physiology principles related to anesthesia recovery phases and patient assessment techniques., • Prior involvement in post-operative discharge planning and case management processes., • Exposure to diverse patient populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator care), geriatrics (memory care), behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities., • Understanding of infection control practices aligned with hospital standards; experience with laboratory testing or specimen processing is advantageous., • 401(k), • Dental insurance, • Health insurance, • Vision insurance Work Location: In person Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401K offered.\n\nPlease call or text John at 484-362-6513 or send your resume directly to \n About GHR Healthcare For over 30 years, GHR Healthcare has been the bridge between healthcare professionals and the facilities that need them nationwide.
