Job Description JOB DEFINITION: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is to provide Psychiatric Assessments and medication management to children and adults experiencing a behavioral health crisis within a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week to Crisis Stabilization Center. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • Masters' degree in advanced nursing practice in psychiatry from an accredited program., • New York State license and registration as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry., • Current DEA registration., • Certification required in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) (i.e., suboxone). This can include the administration of intramuscular medication when appropriate., • Provides psychiatric and substance abuse examination for the purpose of diagnostic evaluation, determination of treatment needs and prognostic factors. This includes using all reasonable methods to detect the presence of danger to self or others and collaboration with the treatment team to implement appropriate precautions., • Monitors the pharmacological effects of prescribed psychotropic medications and notifies the team of their reported effectiveness., • Is available for consultation with staff regarding relevant issues in the client medical background and collaborates with appropriate professionals in the community to integrate agency treatment with overall medical care., • Contributes to the timely production of all necessary reports to other agencies concerning clients who they have examined and/or treated., • Prescribe for appropriate laboratory testing indicated in collaboration with the treating physician and/or conducts any other relevant studies or tests. Implements any follow-up needed., • Efficiently uses time management skills to maximize availability for direct client contact., • Collaborates with other members of the treatment team in providing, • integrated care. This may include appropriate outreach when indicated., • Establishes and maintains appropriate and timely clinical case records, including, but not limited to, treatment plans, progress notes and treatment plan reviews, documenting appropriate therapeutic intervention with each client to the Agency, funding, licensing and billing authorities., • Works as part of the ICSC team; attends and participates in team meetings to provide input/feedback around psychosocial conditions/comorbidities to review client status, update plans and goals, review outcomes to further program goals., • Assist the program to provide crisis intervention and follow-up on an as-needed basis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of the site in collaboration with the facilities and management team., • Ensure all residents are treated with dignity and respect and are given the opportunity to actively participate in their service and support plans in order to provide collaborative treatment panning., • Organize and encourage respectful interactions between residents, conduct house meetings and offer supports and training as needed to residents in the program., • Conduct intakes for potential residents in cooperation with the admissions committee., • Review and approve all time off requests, time sheets and travel expenses for staff within 48 hours of submission., • Oversee program finances, including weekly client distributions, petty cash, fee payments, check requests, food and supply budgeting and ensuring appropriate funding and benefits are in place for all residents., • Oversight of recreational activities., • Serve as a liaison with outside service providers and advocate for the needs of residents in the program, when necessary., • Ensures that appropriate discharge planning activities occur for all residents., • Responsible for routine oversight and monitoring of all client records to ensure that records are up to date and include all required documentation in compliance with applicable individual program regulations and policy manuals., • Provide direction and support to staff during crisis situations. Job Description JOB DEFINITION: The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing short-term acute care to individuals presenting to the Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center with a mental health/substance use crisis. The RN assesses clients, administers medications, manages psychiatric and medical needs, and supports crisis stabilization through trauma-informed, patient centered care.
