Job DescriptionJob Title: Clinical Research Nurse – Oncology Job Description This role offers an experienced Oncology Registered Nurse the opportunity to work at a leading academic cancer research center, coordinating and delivering care for patients enrolled in cutting-edge clinical trials. You will combine your clinical expertise with research responsibilities, including patient enrollment, informed consent, and adverse event reporting, while collaborating closely with physicians and research teams on innovative oncology and hematology studies. Responsibilities • Coordinate and support oncology clinical trials, ensuring all activities follow Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and institutional policies., • Conduct comprehensive chart reviews and eligibility assessments to identify and screen potential participants for clinical research studies., • Manage and document the informed consent process, clearly explaining study procedures, risks, and benefits to patients and answering their questions., • Enroll and follow patients on clinical trials, including scheduling visits, coordinating procedures, and ensuring protocol adherence throughout the study., • Monitor, assess, and document adverse events and toxicities related to cancer therapies using CTCAE criteria, and communicate findings to investigators and the research team., • Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical research coordinators, and study coordinators to support high-quality patient care and accurate study conduct., • Utilize Epic and other clinical and research systems to document patient care, research data, and study-related information with a high level of accuracy., • Participate in IRB-related activities as needed, helping to ensure regulatory compliance and ethical conduct of research., • Apply oncology and hematology clinical knowledge to support patient safety, symptom management, and treatment education within research protocols., • Contribute to the continuous improvement of research processes, sharing insights from frontline experience to enhance trial operations and patient experience., • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cancer medications, investigational products, and evolving standards of care relevant to the studies you support., • Work effectively within a fast-paced academic research environment, balancing clinical responsibilities with research documentation and coordination tasks.Essential Skills, • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania., • 5+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse., • Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical research experience., • Oncology nursing experience, with strong familiarity with cancer patients and treatments., • Experience with hematology patients and therapies (hematology experience preferred)., • Experience with cancer medications and adverse event reporting using CTCAE., • Comfort and confidence interacting and collaborating with physicians and investigators., • Demonstrated experience in clinical trial coordination, including patient enrollment and follow-up., • Proficiency in conducting chart reviews and extracting relevant clinical and research data., • Knowledge and practical application of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in clinical research., • Experience with informed consent processes and patient education for clinical trials., • Ability to use Epic or similar electronic medical record systems in a clinical research setting., • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation and research data entry., • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred., • Prior experience as a clinical research nurse, research coordinator, or study coordinator in oncology is highly valued., • Exposure to immunotherapy, developmental therapeutics, or innovative oncology drug trials is beneficial., • Experience working on high-profile or multi-center clinical studies is an advantage., • Familiarity with IRB processes and regulatory requirements in clinical research., • Ability to thrive in a large academic research environment with multiple ongoing studies., • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle a fast-paced workload., • Commitment to the mission of advancing cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes through research.Work Environment You will work on a large, vibrant academic medical campus within a prestigious cancer research center that is recognized as one of the most respected academic research institutes in the world. The clinic operates Monday through Friday with hours generally from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in a fast-paced environment that supports nearly 200 active clinical trials. The center features state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure, and teams collaborate closely to move discoveries from bench to bedside, particularly in areas such as translational research, breast cancer, melanoma, hematologic malignancies and bone marrow transplantation, tobacco research, developmental therapeutics, and immunobiology. You will join an experienced research nursing and coordination team with deep expertise in oncology, including long-standing experience in complex disease areas such as pancreatic cancer. Dress is professional clinical attire appropriate for an academic outpatient oncology and research setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
