Overview Reporting to the Chief of Legal Services, Attorney will provide direct legal representation (court appearances and legal/immigration proceedings) to victims of domestic violence in Westchester County. Duties • Provide legal advice, and representation (i.e. family law litigation, matrimonial actions, custody & visitation, child support, orders of protection, and immigration)., • Conduct client intake and offer trauma-informed legal advice, counsel, and (if needed) referrals., • Manage caseload via continued communication with clients, court personnel, and partner agencies., • Collaborate with the District Attorney’s Office, law enforcement, and other community agencies to advocate for survivors’ rights, • Maintain accurate records and case files., • Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance legal knowledge, especially in domestic violence advocacy, • Engage in outreach and collaborate with community partners to provide comprehensive support to clients. Requirements • 2+ years of legal experience, preferably in family law, immigration or domestic violence-related cases., • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, • License to practice law in New York State., • Bilingual (Spanish), • Commitment to serving diverse communities with empathy and cultural competence, while providing trauma-informed, client-centered legal services., • Valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation.
