Job Description We are seeking dedicated New York licensed Default Attorneys to join our S&E team. The position is based out of our Cranford, New Jersey office, with responsibilities extending throughout the State of New York. Attorneys are responsible for overseeing all aspects of mortgage and lending client case portfolios from assignment to conclusion. Duties & Responsibilities: • Drafts legal pleadings, notices of hearings, motions, and orders., • Researches and analyzes statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, codes, and the like., • Updates case management system in a timely manner to ensure data integrity., • Travels to court for court appearance and visits client sites, as necessary., • Other duties as assigned. Associate: • Communicates and collaborates with clients, internal staff, and others to ensure effective case management., • Identifies legal issues / items which require additional review., • Establishes a strong follow-up system to ensure deadlines are met for various pleadings that must be served and filed., • Prioritizes and manages a high volume of files with great accuracy and attention to detail., • Attends both routine and litigation hearings as well as settlement conferences, oral arguments, and other court appearances as necessary., • Manages own caseload with accuracy and attention to detail., • Reviews case work prepared by paralegals and corrected as necessary. Qualifications • J.D from an ABA accredited law school, • New York State Bar Admission, active and in good standing, • Willingness to travel within the tri-state area as needed, • New York procedural experience and knowledge of the NYCPLR, RPAPL and RPL, • Litigation skills including drafting motions, opposition, replies, conducting oral argument, deposition, traverse hearings and bench trial, • Creditor’s Rights, Default, eviction, and/or bankruptcy experience with lenders and mortgage services in the State of New York preferred., • Experience in client systems used in default services, such as Black Knight preferred., • Previous experience with electronic case management systems, especially CaseAware preferred., • Knowledge of laws related to practice areas, legal codes and court procedures., • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with other attorneys, staff and clients., • Must have outstanding interpersonal skills, and able to positively interact and collaborate with clients and employees at all levels., • Must be flexible, self-directed, and motivated., • Outstanding organizational skills., • Ability to handle a large volume of cases, • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook and Word, • Valid Driver’s License Benefit: An origination incentive of 20% included for any additional business brought into S&E. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually required to talk, hear and walk, occasionally required to stand and lift and frequently required to sit, reach with hands, talk and touch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Requires the ability to drive to court appearances, etc. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is usually in an indoor office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
