Job Summary: The AI Automation Engineer will serve as the credit union’s hands-on lead for intelligent automation and AI-enabled process improvement. This role is responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing automation solutions that reduce manual effort, increase operational efficiency, and modernize business processes across the organization. This is a builder role, not a research or theoretical position. The successful candidate will work directly with business lines to eliminate repetitive, low-value work through automation, agentic AI, workflow optimization, and integration technologies, with the goal of freeing staff to focus on higher-value member service and strategic activities. This role will wear multiple hats and play a foundational role in establishing future AI capabilities. We encourage you to view and apply directly at edfed.org/careers Duties & Responsibilities: Automation & AI Delivery: • Design, build, and deploy automation solutions using a combination of:, • AI/ML services (LLM/NLP, classification, summarization, decision support), • Workflow automation and orchestration tools, • Scripting, APIs, and system integrations, • AI agents, • Automate high-volume, manual, and repetitive processes across departments such as Operations, Lending, Marketing, Finance, HR, and IT., • Rapidly prototype and deliver low-risk, high-impact automation use cases. Then build to more complex use cases. Process Analysis & Optimization: • Partner with business stakeholders to map current-state processes and identify inefficiencies., • Quantify time savings, productivity gains, and operational impact of automation initiatives., • Recommend process redesigns that eliminate unnecessary steps prior to automation. Measurement & Value Realization: • Track and document:, • Hours captured, • Cycle time reduction, • Error reduction, • FTE capacity created through automation, • Support leadership decisions related to roles due to efficiency gains. Governance & Risk Awareness: • Ensure automations align with security, data privacy, compliance, and risk expectations., • Work closely with Information Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to implement controls proportionate to risk., • Document solutions to support audits and examinations. Collaboration & Enablement: • Serve as an internal consultant, advisor, and champion on automation and AI opportunities., • Educate business teams on automation capabilities and limitations., • Help establish standards, patterns, and best practices for future AI and automation efforts., • Effectively communicate improvements to gain additional buy-in and momentum. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience., • 5 – 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following:, • Automation engineering, • Intelligent automation (RPA + AI), • Workflow and systems integration, • Process optimization with technology enablement, • Hands-on experience building automations., • Knowledge of current enterprise AI systems and technologies, • Strong understanding of APIs, data flows, and system integrations., • Experience working directly with non-technical business stakeholders., • Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions. Preferred Skills: • Experience in financial services, banking, or credit unions., • Familiarity with:, • AI/ML services (Azure, OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Google, etc.), • RPA or workflow tools, • Low-code/no-code platforms, • Process mining or process mapping tools, • LLMs, agentic AI, multi-agent systems, and agent-to-agent protocols, such as MCP, • Exposure to data governance, model risk, or compliance considerations., • Experience quantifying productivity gains or cost avoidance.
