OVERVIEW: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the company’s procurement operations, including sourcing finished goods suppliers, negotiating favorable purchase terms, and ensuring procured products meet company standards. This role oversees a small team of Purchasing Specialists and is responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies that support company growth, cost efficiency, and supply chain reliability. The Purchasing Manager will maintain strong supplier relationships, oversee high-volume procurement activities, ensure punctual deliveries, and resolve supply-related issues. This role also partners closely with cross-functional teams to optimize sourcing strategies, improve operational efficiencies, and support inventory and product initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership & Team Management • Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of Purchasing Specialists to ensure efficient purchasing operations and professional development., • Assign workload, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance reviews., • Establish best practices and standard operating procedures for the purchasing function., • Lead sourcing initiatives to discover and qualify new finished goods suppliers., • Collaborate with key suppliers to procure high-volume SKUs of finished goods., • Manage container-based ordering processes and oversee international procurement logistics., • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, quality standards, and reliable delivery., • Analyze market conditions, industry trends, and demand forecasts to develop effective sourcing strategies., • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve supply reliability, and optimize inventory levels., • Support senior leadership with purchasing strategy recommendations and supplier diversification initiatives., • Oversee the generation and distribution of purchase orders, supplier agreements, and procurement documentation., • Monitor supplier performance, address quality or delivery issues, and implement corrective actions., • Ensure purchased products meet company quality standards and resolve product deficiencies., • Generate procurement reports and maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and inventory records., • Monitor purchasing metrics such as cost savings, supplier performance, and order accuracy., • Support cross-functional initiatives and special projects related to supply chain improvement., • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent work experience., • 7+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, including sourcing finished goods from manufacturers or wholesalers., • Previous leadership or team management experience required., • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and strategic sourcing experience., • Experience managing high-volume SKU purchasing and container-based ordering processes., • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and web-based procurement platforms., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities., • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, prioritize work, and manage multiple projects simultaneously., • Adaptable to new technologies, systems, and business processes., • Highly proactive with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
