Job Description Job Title: Electronic Technician 2nd shift: 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM on a 9/80 schedule Job Description The Electronic Technician supports the development and production of advanced simulation systems for aerospace and defense applications. In this role, you test, troubleshoot, and assemble RF and digital electronic products, perform precision RF tuning under a microscope, and collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure products meet stringent performance and quality standards. You work on a 2nd shift schedule and contribute directly to the reliability and effectiveness of mission-critical electronic systems. Responsibilities • Test and troubleshoot RF products, including RF microelectronic amplifiers, switches, mixers, and related components., • Test and troubleshoot digital circuit cards to identify and resolve functional and performance issues., • Analyze equipment operating characteristics to isolate malfunctions in products and integrated test systems., • Diagnose non-conformances using schematics, wiring diagrams, source control drawings, test procedures, and test equipment., • Perform RF tuning on microelectronic assemblies while working under a microscope for a significant portion of the workday., • Perform maintenance and calibration on test equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements., • Record test results and production data accurately in data collection systems, travelers, shop floor systems, and quality records., • Ensure validity and completeness of entries into data collection and test systems., • Interpret test findings and recommend appropriate corrective actions to address issues and non-conformances., • Execute proper documentation of all actions performed using applicable forms and documentation standards., • Perform a variety of production assembly operations, both repetitive and non-repetitive, on electronic and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies., • Learn and perform tasks under a microscope on very small assemblies, applying excellent manual dexterity and precision., • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to assist in writing or modifying test procedures and process documentation., • Follow all safety, ESD, FOD, and cleanliness guidelines to maintain a safe, compliant, and organized work area., • Successfully complete in-house workmanship criteria training classes and maintain required qualifications., • Work effectively in a team environment, supporting shared goals and contributing to a performance-based, metrics-driven culture. Essential Skills • High school diploma or equivalent., • Electronics knowledge gained through schooling, military experience, or relevant work experience., • Ability to read, interpret, and follow procedures, schematics, wiring diagrams, and drawings., • Hands-on experience using drawings, wire lists, source control drawings, and test procedures., • Experience working with microelectronics and performing tuning under a microscope., • Experience using electronic test equipment for troubleshooting and verification., • Experience with soldering and electronic assembly processes, including PCB and electrical assembly work., • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with engineering teams., • Strong verbal and written communication skills., • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook., • Comfort working in a performance-based, metrics-driven environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Working knowledge of defense electronics, with a preference for experience in Electronic Warfare systems., • Experience recording production and test data in shop floor and quality systems., • Familiarity with RF tuning techniques and working under magnification for extended periods., • Experience with electronic assembly, wiring, soldering, and PCB-related tasks., • Ability to maintain high levels of manual dexterity and precision when working on very small assemblies., • Experience following ESD, FOD, and cleanliness guidelines in an electronics manufacturing or test environment. Work Environment This position is based in an aerospace and defense production and test facility, working on 2nd shift from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM on a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. You work primarily in an electronics lab and production area that follows strict safety, ESD, FOD, and cleanliness guidelines. The role involves frequent use of microscopes for microelectronic RF tuning and small-assembly work, as well as regular use of electronic test equipment, schematics, wiring diagrams, and shop floor systems. You will spend time at workstations equipped with test instruments, computers running Microsoft Office applications, and tools for soldering and electronic assembly. The environment emphasizes precision, documentation accuracy, and adherence to established procedures, with appropriate attire to support safety and cleanliness requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
